7 Envir onmental Information Pa c k ag i n g All tr ansit packaging materials are envir onmentally compatible and can be r eused. Wood is un-tr eated. The plasti cs can be recycled and are identified as follows: >PE< for polyethylene, e.g. the outer cove ring and the bags in the inte- rior .
8 Appliance T r ansport T wo persons ar e requir ed to tr ans port the appliance. Ther e are two r ecessed handles at the back of the appliance at the top for improved gripping. 0 1. Grip the appliance with the r e cessed handles positioned as in the dr aw- ing, and tr anspor t the appliance.
9 Installation Installation Location The appliance should be installed in a well ventilated, dry room. Energy use and efficient performance of the appliance is affected by the ambient temperatur e.
Installation 10 The r efriger ator/freezer needs ventilation Air is fed under the door through the vent slots in the base and is exhausted upwar ds along the back wall.

12 Reversing The Door The door hinges can be changed fr om right (as supplied) to le ft if r equired to suit the location wh er e the ap pliance is installed. 1 Wa r n i n g! Appliance D escription 15 No-Fr ost-System The no-fro st-sy stem enables both the freezing of fr esh foods and the storage of r eady frozen or cooled f oods by means of cold air . A vapor- iser cools the air in the interior sp ace of the appliance, which is circu- lated and uniformly distributed by a ventil ator .
16 Prior to Initial Start-Up 1 Befor e connecting the appliance to the mains and putting it into ope- r ation for the first time, leave the appliance to stand for 30 minutes if it was transported upright. After tr ansport on its side, the appliance must be left to stand for 2 hour s before putting it into operation.

18 Information: The red warning indicator and temperatur e warning tone will be activated: – when the fr eezer is started up (if the stor age temperatur e has not yet been reached) – if the temperatur e in the freezer compartment is too warm; – if there is a malfunction i n the appliance.
19 “Open Door” W arning When the fridge or fr ee zer doors ar e op en the open door warning but- ton flashes r ed and a warning tone is sounded. – after approx.
20 Switching the Appliance Off 0 1. T o switch off, hold down the ON/OFF button for approx. 3 seconds. The gr ee n illumination in the button will go off. If the appliance is not going to be used for an extended period: 0 1. Switch off the appliance by ho lding down the ON/OFF button for appr ox.
21 Interior Accessories Stor age Shelves The shelf in the lowest runners above the fruit and vegetable drawer is stopped with plastic corners o n the back . It must always remain in this position, so that fruit and vegetables stay fresh for longer . To r emove the stops, the plastic corners must be twisted 90° forwards and to the outside.
Interior Accessories 22 Fruit/V egetable Dr awer (not offer ed in al l models) On some models there is a moistur e f ilter in fr ont of the shelf above the fruit and vegetable compartments. This preserves the natur al moisture co ntent of the food in the fruit and vegetable compartments for longer .
23 Pr oper Stor age The cooling fans ensure an even tem- per ature distribution in the fridge. Foods with differen t perishability can therefor e be arranged on the shelves as you like, without having to take into account the different temper ature zones which usually occur .
Proper Storage 24 T o obtain the be st performance fr om your refriger ator/freezer: • D o not stor e warm food or evaporating liquids. • D o not stor e food uncovered. • Keep the time between buying chilled food and placing it in your fr e ezer as short as possible.
25 Fr eezing Wa r n i n g! • Be fore foods ar e fr oze n, the actual temper ature in the fr eezer compartment must be -18 °C or colder . • Please observe indicated fr eezing capacity on the rating plate. The fr eezing capacity repr esents th e maximum amount of fresh g oods that can be fr o zen within 24 hour s.
26 Fr ozen Stor age Wa r n i n g! Befor e initia l loading of the fr eezer compartment with pr eviously frozen goods, the r equired stor age temper ature of -18 °C must be reached.
27 Hints and Tips Normal Oper ating Sounds • Y ou may hear faint gur gling o r bu bbling sounds when the refriger ant is pumped thr ough the coils or tu bing at the rear , to the cooling plate/evapor ator .
28 Maintenance and Cleaning Befor e any maintenance or cleaning work is carried out DISCONNECT the appliance fr om th e EL ECTRICITY supply . 1 Wa r n i n g! • D o not use detergents, abr asive powder s , highly perfumed cleaning products, wax polishes or cle aning pr oducts containing bleach or alcohol.
