Do not allow children to use y our mobile phone without super vision. Do not open or attempt to repair your mobile phone y ourself. Only use your telephone with Alcatel batteries, chargers and accessories compatible with your model (see page 70).
Although the SAR was established at the highest certified level, the actual SAR level for the phone during use is generally much low er than the maximum values. 3 Calls .................................. 3.1 Making a call Dial the desired number then pr ess the k ey to place the call. T o hang up, press the ke y . If you mak e a mistake, press the ke y once to remov e the last digit. Press and hold the k ey to delete all the digits.
If the access number for y our operator’ s voicemail service does not a ppear , dial the number that y ou were giv en. T o program or change this n umber at a later date, refer to “ Call ser vices/V oicemail/Enter n umber: ” (see page 51). To use your voicemail service from abr oad, contact your netw ork operator before lea ving.
Handling two calls • Call waiting (1) If a second call comes in while you ar e on line , you will be notified b y a tone and the backlight.Y ou can then accept the call by pressing the ke y.

6.2.1 SIM Directory When you ar e in the “ SIM directory ”, select “ Create ”, enter the name and the phone number , then press the to confirm. The created files will be displa yed in alphabetical or der . If you mak e a mistake, press the ke y to erase the last character .
6.4 A vailable options in the phone directory (O T156 only) The following options will be displa yed when the contacts ha ve been created in the phone dir ector y: Details • Displa y the details of the selected contact (name, phone number , office phone or mobile phone number , etc).
35 7 Messag es ........................ From y our telephone , you can r ead, write , send and receive “ SMS messages ” and shar e them with other mobiles. To access the messages from the main scr een, press the top of the key or press the ke y and select the (“ Messages ”) icon.
7.3 Outbo x The last written message sa ved is displa yed on top of the list. Select the message you want to vie w and press the k ey . Press again the key to access the f ollowing options: Delete • Delete the message. F orwar d • F orward the message.
39 7.7 SMS CB (Cell Broadcast) These are messages br oadcast over the netw ork (weather forecast, traffic conditions, etc..). 8.5 Batter y sa ving (O T156 only) Adjust the settings to sa ve your battery energ y using this menu. By default, the “ Batter y sa ving ” mode is activated to sav e your batter y . Y ou can also set the duration of the backlighting. 8.6 Ke ys setup Y ou can assign a function or a number that you use fr equently , to k eys to on the k eypad.
Change PIN To change the PIN code, enter the old code then the new one when prompted (“ Enter PIN: ” and “ Enter ne w PIN: ”). The new PIN code is a number consisting of 4 to 8 digits.Y ou must confirm it by entering it again (“ Again please: ”).
9.3 Diar y (O T156 only) Y our telephone has a diar y so that you can cr eate and record e vents such as holida ys, meetings or tasks to do . From the “ T ools ” menu, select “ Diary ”, press then select “ Events ”. The following options will be displa yed: Create • Select the type of e vent to be created (Holida ys, Meeting, T o Do).
