5 Safety When Cleaning • For safety reasons do not clean the appliance with a steam jet or high pressur e cleaner . • Clean the hob in accordance with the maintenance and cleaning instruc- tions in this manual. T o A void damaging your appliance • Do not use the hob as a work surface or for storage.
6 2 Disposal Disposing of the packaging material All materials used can be fully r ecycled. Plastics are marked as follows: • >PE< for polyethylene, as used for the outer wrapping and the bags in- side. • >PS< for polystyr ene foam, e.
7 Description of the Appliance Cooking zones and control panel Single Cookin g Zone 1700 W Single Cooking Zone 1200 W Single Cooking Zone 1200 W Four Residual Heat Indicators (separate for each zone) .
8 Befor e using for the first time Initial Cleaning Wipe the ceramic glass surf ace with a damp cloth. 1 Important: Do not use any causti c, abrasive cleaners! The surface could be damaged. Operating the hob 3 When a cooking zone is switched on, it may hum briefly .
9 Cooking on the Zones 1. Select a high setting for heating up / browning. 2. As soon a steam starts to form or the oil is hot, turn back to the heat setting necessary for further cooking. 3. T o stop cooking, tur n back to the zero position. 2 Switch off the cooking zone appr ox.
10 Residual heat indicator The ceramic cooking zone is equipped with a residual heat indicator , a con- trol lamp is allocated to each cooking zone. This lights up as soon the corre- sponding cooking zone is hot and warns ag ainst inadvertant contact.
11 Uses, tables and tips Pans The better the pan, the better the r esults. • Y ou can recognise good pans by their bases. The bas e should be as thick and flat as possible. • Pay particular attention when buyi ng new pans to the diameter of the base.
12 Chart for Setting the Cooking Zones The setting position requir ed for cooking processes is dependent on the quality of the pots and on the type and amount of the food. 3 When heating up or frying, we r ecommend heat setting “12", and then con- tinue cooking foods at an appropriate lower heat setting.
13 Cleaning and car e Hob 1 Important: Cleaning agents must not come into contact with the hot ce- ramic glass surface! All cleanin g agents must be r emoved with plenty of clean water after cleaning .
14 1 Problem Dirt 1. Remove burnt-on sugar , melted plastic, aluminium foil or other meltable materi- als with a glass scraper immediately and while still hot . 1 Important: Ther e is a risk of burning yourself when the glass scrape r is used on a hot cooking zone! 2.
15 What to do if … Rectifying faults It is possible that faults have been caused by a minor error , which you can correct yourself with the help of the following instructions. Do not attempt any further repairs if the fol lowing instructions do not help in each specific case.

18 1 Safety Instructions for the Installer • A device must be provided in the electrical installation which allows the appliance to be di sconnected fr om th e mains at all poles with a contact open.
19 Electrical Connection Befor e connecting, check that the nominal volta ge of the appliance, that is the voltage stated on the rating plate, corr esponds to the available supply voltage. The rating plate is l ocated on the lower casing of the hob. The heating element voltage is AC 230 V ~.
