8 818 20 77-00/1 Appliance T ransport Two per sons are r equired to trans port the appliance. Ther e are two recessed handles at the fr ont of the base and at the back of the appliance at the top for improved gripping. 0 1. Grip the appliance with the recessed handles positioned as in the dr aw- ing, and transport the appliance.
Before Use 818 20 77-00/1 9 2. Remove the transport pr otection pieces and pull off the adhesive tape. 3. Wash the inside of the appliance with lukewarm water with a little bicarbonate of soda added (5 ml to 0.5 litre of water). Do not use soap or detergent as the smell may linger .
10 818 20 77-00/1 Installation Installation Location The appliance should be installed in a well ventilated, dry room. Energy use and efficient performance of the appliance is affected by the ambient temperatur e.
Installation 818 20 77-00/1 11 The r efrigerator/fr eezer needs air Air is fed under the door through the vent slots in the base and is exhausted upwards along the back wall. T o ensure proper air cir culat io n never cove r or alter the vent openings.

818 20 77-00/1 13 Reversing The Door The door hinges can be changed from right (as supplied) to left if requir ed to suit the location wh ere the appliance is installed. 1 War n i n g ! Unplug from the mains, befor e revers ing the door . 0 1. Open the freezer compartment door and remove the plinth to the front.
Reversing The Door 14 818 20 77-00/1 4. Move the bearing pivot from the right to the left hand hole. Remove the freezer compartment door carefully to the fr ont and place on one side. 5. Unscrew the centr e door bear ing. 6. Remove the fridge compartment door carefully to the fr ont and place on one side.

Fasten the self-closing mechanism to the bottom left of the fridge compartment door . 11 . Carefully slid e the fridge com- partment door onto the top bear- ing pivot and close.

Place the lower door bearing with the bearing pivot in the lower left of the freezer compartment door and fasten.

To switch off, hold down both the ON/OFF buttons for appr ox. 5 seconds. This will r esult in a countdown from "3" to "1" taking place in the temperatur e display .
24 818 20 77-00/1 Holiday Mode In the holiday mode the temperatur e for the refrigerator is appr oxi- mately +15 °C. In the holiday mode it is therefore possible to leave the door of the empty refriger ator closed during periods of extended absence.
818 20 77-00/1 25 Contr ol and Information Systems The control and information systems consist of a temper ature display , an optical warning display and an acoustic warning.

War n i n g ! • Before foods ar e frozen, the actual temper ature in the fr eezer compartment must be -18 °C or colder .
818 20 77-00/1 31 Tips: • The following are suitable for the packaging of fr ozen goods: – freezer bags and polyethylene wraps; – plastic containers for frozen foods; – extra-thick aluminium foil • The following are suitable for sealing bags and wraps: plastic clips, rubber bands or adhesive tape.

34 818 20 77-00/1 Hints and Tips Normal Oper ating Sounds • Y ou may hear faint gur gling or bu bbling sounds when the refriger ant is pumped through the coils or tu bing at the r ear , to the cooling plate/evaporator .
Defrosting 818 20 77-00/1 35 Maintenance and Cleaning Before any maintenance or cleaning work i s carried out DISCONNECT the appliance from th e ELECTRICITY supply .
