4 Safety The safety o f our freezer s is in accordance with recognised technological standards and appliance safety legislation. W e ne v ertheless feel that it is important to acquaint y ou with the f ollo wing safety guidelines: Use f or Intended Purpose The freez er is intended for household use .
5 Bef ore disposing o f old appliances make them inoper able. R emo v e plug from mains , se ver the po wer cable , remo ve or destr o y any snap or latch closures . This eliminates the dang er that pla ying children lock themselv es into the appliance (dang er of suff ocation!) or place themselv es into other life-endang ering situations .
6 Disposal Appliance P ackagin g Inf ormation All materials are envir onmentally friendly . The y can be safely disposed o f at a rec y cling centr e . About the materials: The plastics can be rec y cled and are identified as f ollo w s: >PE< f or polyeth ylene , e.
7 Installation Installation Location The appliance should be set up in a w ell ventilated, dry r oom on a firm and le vel surf ace . W arning! The appliance ma y not be exposed to spr a y or w ater splashes . There is a dan ger o f electrical shock! Ener gy use is affected b y the ambient temperature .
8 The freez er needs air . The side w alls become w arm whilst the appliance is on. The heat is gener ated b y the special refrig erating s y stem (shell condenser) and helps pre v ent condensation. In order f or the heat to be able to be dissipated, air must be able to circulate ar ound all the side w alls.
9 Electrical Connection An y electrical w ork required to install this appliance should be carried out b y a qualified electrician or competent person. W ARNING - THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EAR THED The manuf acturer declines an y liability should these safety mea-sures not be observ ed.
10 Thermostat control knob Signal li ght Appliance Description Control P anel Starting Up Please clean the appliance interior and all accessories prior to initial start up (see section: “Cleaning and Car e”). Insert the mains plug o f the chest freezer into the mains supply .
11 T emperatur e adjustment Thermostat control knob 1 = Lo w est setting, minimum cold SUPER = Highest settin g, maximum cold T urning the thermostat control knob to w ards "SUPER" reduces the temper ature in the freez er and turning it to w ards to the lo wer number s will increase the temperatur e.
12 LO W FR OST S YSTEM. The patented LO W FR OST Sy stem reduces the ice-build-up in the chest freez er b y up to 80 percent, which results in a lon ger period o f time between defrostin g.
13 Baskets The baskets ar e designed f or the storag e of f ood which has already been froz en. The handles can be placed in tw o positions, as sho wn. The baskets can either be placed inside the fr eezer or hung on the ed ge o f the casing. The f ollo wing spare parts can be or dered from y our local Service F orce Centre .
14 Switching the Appliance Off T o switch o ff the appliance pull out the plug from the po w er supply or switch o ff or disengag e the household fuse. If the appliance is to be remo ved fr om service for a len gthy period: R emo ve the mains plug or switch o ff or turn out the circuit br eaker or fuse .
15 T urn the control knob to „SUPER”. The freez er will no w run continuously , creatin g a sufficient reserv e of the temper ature requir ed. T urn the control knob to „SUPER” 6-24 hours bef ore placin g fresh f ood in the freez er , depending on ho w much f ood is to be frozen.
16 F roz en Stora ge A ttention! Befor e filling the freez er for the fir st time with pre viously fr ozen goods , the necessary stora ge temper ature o f -18 °C must ha ve been attained.
17 Pull out the plug o f the defrost w ater outlet at the bottom o f the freezer . T o catch the defrost w ater , place the freezin g tra y s (not included with all models), the dividing partition or another flat receptacle under the defrost w ater outlet.
18 Defrost the fr eezer compartment (see section: "Defrostin g"). Clean the appliance and the interior accessories with a cloth and luke w arm w ater . Commercially a v ailable dish w ashing deter gents ma y also be used. After cleaning wipe with fr esh w ater and rub dry .
19 What to do if... If the appliance is not w orking corr ectly , please carry out the follo wing checks bef ore calling out an en gineer . Symptom No po w er to the appliance . The temperatur e in the freez er is too w arm. The lid will not open. Ex cessive fr ost and ice has built up.
20 REPLA CE LIGHT BULB W arning! Electric shock haz ard! Bef ore chan ging the bulb , disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply . Light bulb specifications: 220-240 V , max. 15 W , socket: E 14 Pull out the mains plug to switch o f f the appliance .
