4 Important Safety Instructions These warnings ar e provided in the inter ests of your s afety . Ensur e you fully understand them befor e installing or u sing the appliance. Important Safety Instructions 5 mains plug, cut off the mains cable, break or r emove spring or bolt catches, if fitted. By doing this you ensure that childr en cannot lock themselves in the appliance when playing (there is risk of suffoca- tion!) or get themselves into other dangerous situations.
6 Disposal Appliance P ackaging Information All materials are envir onmentally sound! They can be disposed of or burned at an incinerating plant without danger . About the materials: The plastics can be recycled and ar e identified as follows: >PE< for polyethylene, e.
7 Installation Installation Location The appliance should be set up in a well ventilated, dry room. Energy use and efficient performance of the appliance is affected by the ambient temperatur e.
Installation 8 If your refriger ator is installed under a continuous worktop, an air outlet opening of at least 200 cm 2 and a ventilation grille (A/B) matching the worktop design should be installed at the rear of the worktop. The cut surfaces of the worktop (C) should be varnished to avoid swelling due to penetration of moistur e.
7. Unscrew the handle. Refit it on the oppo- site side after having pushed in the plugs with a punch. Cover the holes left open with the plugs contained in the docu- mentation pack.

COOLMA TIC Button The COOLMATIC function is suited for quick cooling of large quantities of goods in the r efrigerator , e.g. drinks and salads for a party . ☞ 1. The COOLMATIC function is switched on by pr essing the COOLMATIC button. The yellow light illuminates.
16 V ariable Inner Door The door compartments can be pulled up and removed, and inserted at other positions as needed. Interior Accessories Stor age shelves/glass shelves Various glass or plastic stor age shelves and wire tr ays are included with your appliance - different models have differ ent combinations.
Interior Accessories 17 V ariable Storage Box (not on all models, design differs depending on the model) Some models are equipped with a variable stor age box which is fitted under a door shelf compartment and can be slid sideways. The box can be inserted under every door shelf compartment.
18 Corr ect storage For physical reasons, ther e are dif- ferent temper ature r egions in the fridge. The coldest region is on the lowest storage shelf. W armer regions ar e the top storage shelf, the vegetable drawer and the stor- age compartments on the door .
Freezing and storing fr ozen food 19 ☞ 1. To fr eeze the maximum quantity shown on the rating plate pr ess the FROSTMATIC button 24 hour s prior to freezing, or 4 to 6 hour s for smaller quantities. Y ellow display lights up. The FROSTMATIC button need not be pr essed for freezing of small quantities.
20 Pr eparation of Ice Cubes ☞ 1. Fill the ice cube tray 3/4 full with cold water , place it in the fr eezer compartment and leave to freeze. 2. To loosen the fr ozen cubes, either bend the ice cube tray or hold it under running water for a few seconds.
21 ☞ 1. Switch on the FROSTMATIC function a few hour s before defr osting to make sure fr ozen food remains sufficiently fr ozen. 2. Remove frozen food, wr ap it in several layer s of newspaper and store it, covered, in a cool place. 3. Switch off the appliance and unplug it, or disconnect from the elec- tricity supply .
Cleaning and Care 22 Do not allow such substances to come into contact with appliance parts. • Do not use any abr asive cleansers. ☞ 1. Remove frozen food and the food fr om the refriger ator . Wr ap frozen food in several layer s of newspaper . Store it in a cool place, well cov- ered.
23 Ener gy Saving Tips • Do not install the appliance near cooker s, radiator s or other sources of warmth. High ambient temperatur es cause longer , more frequent operation of the compr essor . • Ensur e sufficient air circulation and exhaust at the appliance base and at the back wall of the appliance.
What to do if ... 24 Temper ature is set too cold. Press „+“ (W ARMER) but- ton. Appliance cools too much. Heavy build up of frost, possibly also on the door seal. Door seal is not air tight (possibly after rever sing the door). Carefully warm the leaking sections of the door seal with a hair dryer (on a cool setting).

26 Noises during Oper ation The following noises are char acteristic of refriger ation appliances: • Clicks Whenever the compressor switches on or off, a click can be hear d. • Humming As soon as the compressor is in oper ation, you can hear it humming.
27 T echnical terminology • Refrigerant Liquids that can be used to a generate a cooling effect ar e known as refriger ants. They have a relatively low boiling-point, indeed so low , that the warmth from the food stor ed in the fridge or freezer can cause the refriger ant to boil and vaporise.
