Ho w to setup the rang e extender b y using the Setup Wizard in CD Disc Thank you for purchasing Edimax W ireless Access Point. W e hope this instructio n can help y ou set up the extend er to extend your existing W i-Fi network to a further loc ation which has poor W i-Fi reception.
Page 1 Introductio n To make Access Po int associate with an existing wireless router, you need to do some setup so that the extender can associate with you r ex isting Wi-Fi net work. Y ou nee d to have some basic understanding about your cu rrent network and you have to enter correct setting in extender.
Page 2 Step 2. If y our Wi-Fi netw ork is secured with a wi reless security pas sword, you need to know y our w ireless password. This step is fo r W in dows 7/Vista W ireless computer.
Page 3 Click on Chang e adapter settings on the left menu. Y ou will be back to the Ne twork connection . For W indow s Vista users, click on Manage Network Connections on th e left menu. Step 3. Use an Ethernet cable to connec t the extender with your computer.
Page 4 After the extender is setup successfully (later in step 8), you can turn the wirele ss connection back on by right click on Wire less Network Co nnection and click on Enable . Leave this N etwork Co nnection Screen open. Do not close this window.
Page 5 The default pass word is 1234. Enter 1234 as password. Click on Next. If you ever setu p a new login password, please use the new password to login. The default IP address is 192.168.2.1. Do NOT choose “Automatically assign an IP address from your network”.
Page 6 Select your wireless network. Click on Next . Enter your correct wireless security passphrase key. The securi ty password must b e the same with the wireless password of your ori ginal W i- Fi network. Please n ote th e password is c ase sensitive.
Page 7 Step 6. Ve rify the succ ess of extender setup. Go back to the Network Connections window. Double click on Local Area Connection to get into Local A rea Connection Status. IPV4 Connectivity in dicates the Internet is connected. Click on Detail s tab.
Page 8 Step 8. If your computer has wireless adapter, the wire less adapter was disabled in step 3 above. In this step, please enable the wireless network connection. Back to the Net work connection W indow. Right click on W ireless Network Connection.
Page 9 Double click on th e Wireless Network Connection icon to get into W ireless Network Connecti on Status window. IPv4 Connectivit y indicates Internet is connected. The SSID indica tes the connection is through the extender. Click on Close . Congratulation , the configuration is completed.
