Due to packaging restrictions, shield installation and positioning of the front handle are necessary. After opening the carton, check for damage. Immediately notify your retailer or ECHO Dealer of damaged or missing parts.

8 1. POWER HEAD - Factory Assembled to the Drive shaft assembly. Includes the Engine, Clutch, Fuel System, Ignition System and Recoil Starter. 2. GRIP - Rear (right hand) handle. 3. FRONT HANDLE - The Front (loop) handle is factory assembled to the Drive Shaft assembly but must be re- positioned for proper cutting attitude and operator comfort.

10 A SSEMBL Y PLASTIC SHIELD Tools Required: None 1 . Remove wing nut (C), washer (B), and bolt (A). 2 . Snap the shield over the bearing housing. 3 . Install bolt (A), washer (B) and wing nut (C). NYLON LINE HEAD Tools Required: Head Locking Tool, 9/16 in.
G RASS T RIMMER O PERA TOR ' S M ANUAL 11 FRONT ( LOOP ) HANDLE NOTE Front handle is pre-installed. Re-positioning and tightening is all that is required. 1 . Position front handle (E) in comfortable operating position and tighten wing nut (F). The cutting attachment should be 5cm- 7.
12 IMPORTANT Spilled fuel is a leading cause of hydrocarbon emissions. Some states may require the use of automatic fuel shut-off containers to reduce fuel spillage. Contact your ECHO dealer for ordering information. After refueling • Wipe any spilled fuel from the unit.
G RASS T RIMMER O PERA TOR ' S M ANUAL 13 O PERA TION ST ARTING COLD ENGINE W ARNING DANGER • Never leave the ignition switch in the on position while the unit is unattended. • Never allow partial tension to remain in the starter, otherwise serious personal injury may result.
14 4. Recoil Starter Lay the unit on a flat clear area. Firmly grasp throttle grip with left hand and fully depress throttle trigger to wide open position. Gently pull recoil starter handle/rope (D) until engine fires or 2 to 3 engine engagements. 5. Choke After engine fires or 2 to 3 engine engagements, move choke lever to “Run” position.

G RASS T RIMMER O PERA TOR ' S M ANUAL 17 AIR FIL TER Level 1. Tools required: Cleaning brush, 25 or 50 mm (1 or 2 in.) medium bristle paint brush. Parts required: 90008 REPOWER TM AIR & FUEL FILTER KIT. 1. Close choke (Cold Start Position). This prevents dirt from entering the carburetor throat when the air filter is removed.
18 SP ARK PLUG Level 2. Tools Required: Spark Plug socket wrench and screw driver, Feeler gauge. Preferably a wire gauge. Parts Required: 90064 REPOWER TM Tune-Up Kit 1 . Remove spark plug and check for fouling, worn and rounded center electrode. 2 . Clean the plug or replace with a new one.
G RASS T RIMMER O PERA TOR ' S M ANUAL 19 A B C D 1 . Remove spark plug lead and throttle linkage end from the carbure- tor swivel. 2 . Remove the four screws that retain the cover. Two at the top of the Recoil Starter, two on either side of the front.
20 CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT Engine Break-In New engines must be operated a minimum duration of two tanks of fuel break-in before carburetor adjustments can be made. During the break-in period your engine performance will increase and exhaust emissions will stabilize.

22 T ROUBLESHOOTING W ARNING DANGER Fuel vapors are extremely flammable and may cause fire and/or explosion. Never test for ignition spark near an open spark plug opening, otherwise serious personal injury may result.
