1 Engli sh F ollow these steps to install the LabelW ri ter printer and print y our first label. 1. Unpacking your LabelWriter Printer NOTE For Windows, do not plug the printer into yo u r c o m p ut e r u n ti l a s ke d t o do s o during the softwa re install ation.
2 Y our LabelWriter printer is a dire ct ther mal printer and does not use toner , ink cartridges, or a ribbon. Instead, it uses he at from a thermal print head to pr int on specially treated labels. La bels are the on ly supp lies you will eve r need to buy .
3 2. Installing the Software To inst all the software on a Win dows system NOTE Do not connect the printer to your comput er until instructed to do so during the software installation. 1 Insert the LabelW riter CD into your CD-ROM drive. After a few seconds, the inst allation scr een appears.
4 3. Connecting your LabelWriter Printer At some po int dur ing the so ftware inst alla tion, you w ill be asked to connect your LabelWriter printer to the USB or serial port. NOTE For Windows, do not connect the printer to your computer until instru cted to do so during the software installation.
5 To connect using the serial port 1 Plug the serial cable into the serial port on the bottom of the printer . See Figure 7. 2 Insert the power and serial cables into the cable channel and set the printer down on your work surface.
6 6 Cut the first label in half so that you have a clean edge and insert the label into the label feed slot. See Figure 10. The printer feeds the labels, stopping at the e nd of the first label. If the printer st ops without feeding the labe l, make sure the label is f ully inserted and then pre ss the form-feed button.
