6 About Your New Label Maker With the DYMO LabelManag er 500TS label maker , you can create a w ide variety of high-quality, self-a dhesive labels. You can choose to print your labels in many different font sizes and styles.
7 Using the Label Maker for the First Time The first time y ou turn o n the power, you are as ked to select the language, units of me asure, and label width. These selection s remain set until yo u change th em. To set up t he label m aker 1 Press to turn on the lab el maker.
8 Backspace The key de letes the selected ob jects or character s. If no objects o r characters a re selected, th e character to the left of the cursor is deleted . Delete Similar to the backspa ce key, the key deletes the selected objec ts or character s.
9 Changing th e Font Type You can chang e the fon t type for some or al l of the text on your label. To chang e the fon t type 1 If necessary, sel ect the existing text to change. To chang e the font type for ne w text only, you do not need to se lect any e xisting text.
10 To set the time 1 Tap on the Ho me screen . 2 Select Time from the settings list. 3 Select the current hour and m inutes. 4 Do one of the following: • To use 24-hour time form at, select the Use 24- hour time check box. • To use 12-hour time fo rmat, clea r the Use 24- hour time check box, and then select AM or PM from the list.
11 Inserting Inte rnational Characters The label make r supports the e xtended Latin character se t. Pressing followed by a letter displays all of the available va riations of that letter. For example, if you press and then t he letter a , yo u will see à á â ã ä and so on for all the var iations availabl e.
12 Using Vertical Text You can print labels wit h th e text running vertically. Labels with multiple lines of text will print as multip le columns of text. To use vertic al text 1 Select Direction on the Layout tab. 2 Tap . The vertical fo rmat is visible in th e display.
13 Editing Labels and Folders You can renam e, cut, copy , and paste labels and folders to keep your lab els organized. To renam e a label or folder 1 Select the chec k box next to the label o r folder you want to rename. 2 Tap Edit , and then tap Rename .
14 Turning off Auto-Cut When the auto-c ut featur e is turned on, each label is automatically cu t after printin g. This feature is on by default. Howev er, you ca n turn off aut o-cut. To turn o ff auto-cu t 1 Tap on the Home scre en. 2 Select Label from the Settings list.
15 Changing User Settings You can set th e language, d ate and time format, units of measure, fon t, and wo rd suggestion settings for ea ch user indi vidually. To change user settings 1 Tap on the Home scre en. 2 Select the user to change t he settings for , and then tap Settings .
