5 About Y our Ne w Label Maker Wi th the DYMO® LabelManager® 220P electr onic label mak er , you can create a wide variety of hi gh-q uality , self-ad hesive labels .
6 T o inser t the batt eries 1. Slide the ba ttery compartment cov er away from the l abel make r . S ee Fig ure 2. 2. Inser t the batteries following the polarity markings (+ and –). 3. Replace the cov er . Ç Remove the batteries if the labe l maker will not be used for a long period of time.
7 Inser ting the T ape Cassette Y our label m aker comes with one tape cassette. Vis i t www .d ym o .c om for information about purchasing additional tape cassettes. T o inser t the tape cassette 1. Lift the t ape cassette cover to open the tape compartment.
8 T o set up the label maker 1. Press to turn on the power . 2. Selec t the language and press } . By default , the language is set to En gli sh. The language option you choose determines the character set that is available . 3. Selec t the width of the t ape cassette currently in the label maker and press } .
9 L CD Display Y ou can enter up to 99 characters and sp aces. T he dis play shows about 13 characters at a time. T he number of characters display ed will vary due to proportional spacing. With D YMO’ s ex c lusive graphical display , most of the formatting you add is visible instant ly .
10 Settings The k ey displays the Language , Label Width a nd Cont rast submenus . These features are described later in this User Guide. CAPS Mode The key toggles capitaliza tion on or off . When Caps mode is on, the Caps mode indicator is shown on the di sp lay and all letters that y ou enter will be capitalized.
11 Cancel The key allows you to exit from a menu without making a selection or to cancel an action. F ormatting Y our Label Y ou can choose from sev eral format op tions to enhance th e appearance of your labels .
12 T o set the font style 1. Press . 2. Select Style and pr ess } . 3. Select a font style and press } . Adding Borders and Underline Styles Y ou can highlight your text by choosing a border or underline style. A label can be under lined or enclosed in a bo rder , but not both together .
13 Creat ing T wo-Line Labels Y ou can print a maximum of two lines on label s. T o create a tw o -line label 1. T ype the text for the first line an d press . A new-line symbol ë is inser ted at the end of the line, but will not print on the labe l.
14 Using S ymbols and S pecial Characters Symbols, punctuation, and spec ial characters can be added to your labels. Adding Symbols The l abel maker supports the extended symbol set shown belo w . T o inser t a symbol 1. Press , select Sy mbol s , and press } .
15 Adding Punc tuation Y ou can quickly add punctua tion using the punctuation shortcut k ey . T o inser t punctuation 1. Press . 2. Select the punctuation mark y ou want and pr ess } . Using the Currency Key Y ou can quickly add a cur rency symbol using the c urrency shor tcut key .
16 Printing Options Y ou can preview your label, print multiple labels, and adjust the printing contra st. Previe wing Y our L abel Y ou can preview the text or format of your label prior to printing. A two-line label is pr eviewed as a singl e -line labe l with a line break character bet ween the two line s.
17 When you cho ose a fixed label length, th e label te xt is automa tically resized to fit the la bel. If the t ext cannot be adjusted t o fit within the fix ed label length, a message is disp layed sh owing the smallest possible label length for this text.
18 To s a v e t h e c u r r e n t l a b e l 1. Press . The first av ailable memor y location is displ ayed. 2. Use the arrow keys to move through the locations. Y ou can store new text in any of the memory loc ations . 3. Select a memor y location and press } .
19 2. Press . The first memory location is displayed . 3. Use the arro w keys to select the text you want to insert. 4. Press } . The text is inser ted in the current label.
