Back V iew: 1. 4-Way Multi-function Button- In all modes, this selects directions such as Up , Down , Left , Right and other spe cial functions . 2. Shutte r Button - Press to take pictures in Capture mode, and to start & stop recording videos or voi ces in Video or V oice mode.

3. How to Use Y our Digital V ideo Camera Prep aration ● Step 1 Insert four "AAA" batte ries into the battery compartme nt . 1. Push down the battery cover 2. Slide the cover tow ards the direction shown below . 3. Install batteries correctly 4.
When inserting an optional SD/MMC memory card, follow t h e icon shown in the compartment to orient the car d. Push the memo ry card all the way into the memory card slot to inse rt. Pushing the card in again gently , will cause it to pop-out. ☆ After inserti ng the memor y card under normal conditi ons, the icon appears on the screen.
Rotating the LCD Screen Open Outward extension From bottom to top 180 degree turn Upward 90 degree turn T o avoid damaging the LCD screen, do not turn the screen in the wrong direction or over-rot a te.
Power 4. Usin g the Di g ital V ideo Camera Slide down and q uickly release the power butt on to turn on th e camera. T o turn off the camera, slide it d own and quickly release it agai n. This video camera is equipped with power saving function. When idle for 2 minutes (default setting) , it automatically shuts off.
Camera Settings Switch the Mode switch to t he SET position and you will see all avail able options in the ch osen mode. Y ou can adjust to functions like Date and Tim e, Audio, Format, Default setting, M emory , Language, V ideo Out, Automatic shut o ff, etc.
NOTE: When idle, the LCD sc reen shuts off after 1 minut e. The camera s huts off after the time that is set by you. Depending on your location, you must change the visual output to NTSC or P AL to play video footage on television ( USA uses NTSC).

Recording a Vid eo Press the shutter but ton to star t recording, pr ess it again to stop r ecording. ☆ The length of the video is li mited by the siz e of the memory . ☆ Furthermore, the size and qu ality of the image w ill also affect the l ength of the v ideo.
Deleting Videos 1. Press the Play butto n , to enter the Vide o Play mode. 1. Press the LEFT or RIGHT button on the 4-way button to select the correct video. 1. Once the vi deo to be delete d is selected, press the UP button o n the 4-way button to enter the delet e screen.
Cancel Protection for All a. Press the Play button , to enter the Video Play mode. Press the Menu Button to enter the “Unlock All” option Press the UP or DOWN button on the Scroll Button to select t he “Unlock All” option.

While in the Pho to mode, press the shu tter bu tton to take still photos in JPEG format. Locking exposure: Pressing the shutt er button in halfway and hol ding it w ill “lock” the exposure setting even if the camera is refocused elsewhere. This alllows you to light en or darken exposure settings q uickly .

Return to the origina l screen 2. Delete A ll Photos: Press the DOWN but ton to enter th e “Delete All” option. Select “OK” to delete all files. If you choose “Cancel” an d press the Scroll Button, y ou will return to the Photo Play opti ons screen .
Removing Protection From A ll Photos: Press the DO WN button to enter the “ Unlock All” option. Select “OK” to unpr otect all files. If you choose “Cancel” an d press the Scroll Button, y ou will return to the Photo Play opti ons screen .
Getting MP3 Files Onto Your 506V: MP3 Mode The DXG-506V has the abi lity to play MP3 file s. Only song f iles in the MP3 file format can be played in the MP3 function. Files on CDs ar e usually in the Windows Media format (.wma) or wav fo rmat and cannot be played in their native format; they must first be co nverted into MP3 fi les.

Play MP3: Under MP3 mode , use the LEF T/RIGHT button on the 4- way multi function button t o select the song. Pr ess the shutter b utton to play . Volume Adjustment: Under Play Mode , press the UP/DO W N button on the Scrol l Button to adj ust the volum e.
Screen Display Use the DISP/HELP button to change the screen display mode. This can only be used when the so ngs are not playi ng. St andard display Button icons Deleting Music: 1. Delete Current Music a. Press the LEFT/RIG HT button o n the 4-way Multifunction B utton to select the single song to be deleted.
Protecting Music 1. Protect Current Music a. Befoe playi ng a song, press th e DOWN button on the 4-way Multifunction Butt on to protect the selec ted file. The icon will appear on the screen. c. Press the DOWN button again will return to no protection.

Play Audio 1. In Audio Mode, press the Play button to enter the Play mode 2. In Play mode, press the LEF T/RIGHT button on the 4-way Multifunction Button to select the correct a udio file.
Return to the origi nal screen 2. Delete A ll Files In Audio Play Option screen, pr ess the Menu butt on to enter the “Delete All” and “Unlock All” options. Select the Del ete All option and “OK” to delete all files . If you select “Cancel” and press the Menu bu tton, you will return to the Audio Play options screen.

5. Connecting to a Computer Web Camera/Storage Device The DV camera can al so act as a web ca mera/storage dev ice. It operates as below : 1. Make sure that th e camera has w ell-chraged batteri es installe d. 2. Insert the s maller plug o f the USB cable int o the camera’ s USB port.
1. Insert the bl ack end of the A V Out cable into the DV camer a’s bott om left V ideo Out port. 2. Insert the y ellow end of the A V Out cable into the tel evision or pr ojector’s video-in plug. Insert the w hite and yel low ends into the television or pr ojector’s audio-i n plug.
4. “DMA” and press OK. ★ Note : When the PC is playing the v ideo, ensure that D irectX8.0 or hi gher and tha t a supporting sound car d is instal led.
6. Driver Installation 6.1 Dr iv er s Y ou will only need to ins tall a driver for the camera if your operatin g sy stem is W ind ows 98SE or W indows ME. W indows 2000 and W indows XP are plug-and-p lay operat ing systems and do not req uire a driver to be manual ly loa ded.

8. T rouble shooting Freeze If the camera fr eezes during operati on and cannot be used, please chec k to ensure that the batteries and i n good contact and res tart the camera. If you cannot restart the camera, check to see if the cam era has been dam aged due to im proper usage.
