If you a re using a fa ctory built chimne y, it m ust com ply with UL 103 o r UL C S629 standa rds; there fore it mu st b e a T ype HT (2 100° F). It is extrem ely im p ortant t hat it be installed according to the manu fact urer's specif ication s.

21 WO OD ST OV E U TIL I ZA TI ON Your hea ting unit was designed to burn wood only; no oth er ma terials sh ould b e burnt. W astes and other f lamm able m aterials sh ould no t be b urnt in your wood st ove. Any type of wood may be used in your stove, but specif ic v arieties have better energy yields than others.
22 Smaller pieces of wood will dry fas ter. All logs e xceeding 6" in dia meter sho uld be split. The wood sh ould n ot be stored d irectly on the ground. Air shou ld circulate through t he cord. A 24 " t o 48" air spa ce shou ld be lef t be tween each row o f logs, which sh ould be placed in the sunniest location p ossible.
23 H EA TI NG Controlled c ombu stion is th e most efficie nt technique for w ood heating be cause it enab les you to se lect th e type o f co mbus tion you want fo r each given situation . The wood will burn slowly if the wood s tove air intake control is adjust ed to redu ce the oxygen supply in the combu stion chamb er to a min imum.

25 A SH D IS PO SA L Ashes shou ld b e rem oved from th e s tove every f ew da ys or when a shes get to 2 to 3 inche s deep. Always empty the stove when it is cold, su ch as in the m orning. Always disp ose of ashe s in a me tal cont ainer with a tight f itting lid.

It is importa nt to perfo rm a visual insp ection of the st ove every time it is em ptied , in o rder to insure tha t no pa rts h ave been d ama ged, in which case repairs must be perf orme d immed iately.
