4 Using th e Re mote C ontrol The table be low descri bes the remot e function s. The remote co ntrol uses infrared (IR) lig ht to communicate with the DISHPlayer receiver . Y ou should stay within 30 feet of the receiv er when using the remot e, and poi nt it direct ly at the front panel o f the receiv er .

8 T o Instantly Rec ord a Pr ogram on Persona l TV While watc hing the program: •P r e s s t h e Record button on the re mote contro l ( ). A record icon will display for a few seconds, then disappear to indicat e the pr og ram is bei n g recor ded.

17 T o Save a Personal TV Rec ording to a V ideo T ape 1. Put a t ape in your VC R and make su re the VC R power is on. 2. From you r Personal TV listin g screen , select the p rogram that you want t o cop y to a vide o t ape. The Progra m Inf o scree n will appe ar .
18 Reco rdin g C onf licts If two p rograms are sc heduled to record at th e same tim e, the pr ogram that will be recorded will ha ve a red dot ne xt to it and th e program th at will not be r eco rded wi ll have an X inset in i ts red dot.
19 Yo u r Personal TV listi ng screen will display the record conflicts. Removing a Sche duled Event T o remove a sche duled rec ording or rem inder from your Person al TV listing , choose th e pro gr a m from yo ur Person al T V listin g . Choose Don’t Record (or Don’t Remind for reminders).
20 Pausin g a Prog ram Press the Pause button on the re mote contro l ( ). The program stops an d pause indica tor appears on the rig ht side of the screen. 27 Contro lling Y our VCR wi th the Remote Co ntrol Several of the bu ttons on the rem ote can be us ed to op erate yo ur VCR. In order fo r the remote to control your VCR, it must be se t up to work with yo ur VCR. Se e “Progr amming the Re mote Con trol” on page 2 8 to do this.
28 Prog ramming the Remote Co ntrol This sec tion expl ains how to prog ram your remote t o control your television and VCR. This will allow you to adjust the volu me, turn the televi si on on and off, chang e cha nnel s, and co ntrol yo ur VCR .
