5 FUSE REQUIREMENTS Y ou will need to install an in-line fuse or circuit break er in the pow er wire within 18” of the batter y . This fuse or circuit breaker is to protect y our v ehicle from fire in case the power wire shor ts to the v ehicle body .
AMPLIFIER ST A TUS LEDS The LEDs provide the f ollowing indications: 1. P ower - These LEDs illuminates the center Precision P ow er logo bac kground when the amplifier po wer is tur ned on. 2. Shor t - These LEDs behind the PPI logo will flash to indicate a shor t on the output.
T OOLS/P ARTS FOR INST ALLA TION NO TE: T OOLS ARE NO T SUPPLIED . Small flat b lade scre wdriver Phillips scre wdriver (#2 or medium siz ed) Wire cutters Wire strippers 4 - #6 round head scre ws, and 1 - #8 sheet metal scre w .
WIRING Bef ore beginning, disconnect the negative (-) terminal of the batter y prior to connecting the amplifier to the positive (+) 12V terminal to pre vent a shor t to ground and potential damage to wiring and equipment.
Obser v e the same precautions for routing these wires that y ou f ollowed f or r unning the pow er and remote tur n on wires. Cut off e xcess and, using wire str ippers , strip 1/4-inch of insulation. Locate the front speak er/remote tur n-on P ower Loc k TM connector .
F or the rear channels, locate the f our ter minal speak er P ower Loc k TM connector . Using a he x wrench loosen the scre ws on the upperside of the connector . Inser t the speaker leads into the end and secure with the he x wrench. Check to be sure y ou've maintained proper polarity bef ore secur ing each wire .
CHARGING SYSTEM If y our total current dra w is ov er 100 amps ( or total output pow er is ov er 600 watts ), y ou are probab ly e xceeding the capability of your charging system. Dimming lights and fluctuating voltage are solid indicators that y ou need to upgr ade y our alter nator , batter y , or both.
load, doub le its 4 ohm RMS rating. These amplifiers will eff ectively doub le their pow er at this load. 1000W X 1.5 X2 = 3000 watts 3000W = 250 Amps total current dra w 12V If y ou are using more than one amplifier , add up the total current dra w f or all of them and choose the appropriate gauge based on the gr and total.
PO WER LOCK CONNECT ORS Once y ou ha v e r un both the pow er and ground wires, then connect the cab les to the amplifier . Cut off e xcess wire, and using wire strippers, strip the ends of the power and g round cab les appro ximately 1/4 inch. Locate the Po w e r Lock TM pow er and ground connector (supplied).
suitab le subwoof er or center channel. Der iving the mono channel is accomplished b y using the Left Channel P ositiv e wire (L+) as the positiv e speaker wire and the Right Channel Negativ e wire (R-) as the negativ e speaker wire . Note: It is impor tant that a minimum 4 ohm impedance is obser v ed.
A600/4 FR ONT PLA TE DIA GRAM 1. Cooling Plenums: Maintain a minimum 2” clearance around cooling plenums f or proper amplifier cooling. 2. Rear Speaker Connector: Speaker P ower Loc k TM connector . 3. Fr ont Speaker/Remote Connector: Speak er P ower Loc k TM connector .
12. Rear Input INT/EXT Switch: Select the INT position if y ou want to use the inter nal signal path from the front crosso v er for the rear input, or the EXT position to use the e xter nal rear RCA input. 13. Sour ce HP/LP/FULL Switch: Select the desired setting.
A600/4 END PLA TE DIA GRAM 1. P ower/Gr ound Po w e r Lock TM : After y ou ha v e securely connected y our pow er and ground wires, plug in the P ower/Ground Po w e r Lock TM connector here. 2. Cooling Plen ums: Maintain a minimum 2” clearance around cooling plenums f or proper amplifier cooling.
4 & 5. QB ASS TM 1 and QB ASS TM 2 Freq.: Use these s witches, QB ASS TM 1 and QB ASS TM 2 to progr am the QB ASS PLUS TM circuit frequency . 6. -12dB Attenuation Switch: Push this s witch ‘IN’ f or high v oltage input (4V -12V) capability .
19. Output Sour ce HP/LP/FULL Switch: Select the desired crossov er setting, HP/LP/FULL f or the RCA output signal. 20. Output Crosso ver Freq. Contr ol: Use this control to adjust the output crossov er frequency from 30Hz to4kHz.
INPUTS There are two sets of RCA jac ks on the front end of your amplifier . The RCA cab les from y our source unit go in the set labeled INPUTS . If your source unit doesn’t ha v e RCA outputs, then add a set of RCA plugs (a v ailable at y our dealer) to your front or rear set of speak er leads (see dra wing below).

AD V ANCED INSTRUMENT A TION INPUT The Adv anced Instr umentation Input has been incor porated from the legendar y Precision P ower TM 2500F1 . This circuit completely isolates the chassis ground from the audio circuit of the amplifier and reduces noise radiated into y our signal cables b y up to 40dB.
QB ASS/QBASS PLUS SPECIFICA TIONS QB ASS TM ( A600/4 ) Up to 18dB of boost centered at 40Hz, with a Q-f actor of 2. QB ASS PLUS TM ( A1200/4 ) Up to 18dB of boost with selectab le center frequency at 30Hz, 36Hz, 44Hz or 60Hz, with a Q-f actor of 2.
CA UTION: QB ASS PLUS TM should only be used in systems with a strong subwoof er section. +18dB is a tremendous amount of bass boost and ma y damage your speak ers or create e xcessiv e distor tion if ab used. The optional QB ASS REMO TE TM : This boost control can be mounted in the dash and will supersede the boost control on the endplate.
25 TC-X CR OSSO VER Y our ne w amplifier has a TC-X Crossov er (T otal Control X-ov er ® ) 30Hz-4kHz (see this guide f or Crossov er Char t).12dB per octa ve phase correlated crossov er b uilt-in to provide superior system fle xibility without the added e xpense and installation of an outboard crossov er .

INPUT COMBINE Y our multi-channel amplifier can use both front and rear outputs from y our head unit to maintain the ability to f ade front to rear , or y ou can run a single set of RCAs to the front inputs and push in the Rear Input INT/EXT s witch on the amplifier endplate to route the front signal to the rear channels as well.
28 Ther mal Protection engaged. The amplifiers will tur n off and after a minute or so will come bac k on (the status LEDs will e xtinguish). In this case, ensure that there is nothing b locking the normal con v ection airflow of the amplifier . No obstr uction should be within 2” of the amplifier on all sides.
