3 3 3 3 Unpacking the Monitor Please check that the following items are in cluded with your monito r . If they are missing or damaged, please cont act your place of purchase immediately .
4 4 Locate the model name an d the serial num ber label on the back of your monitor , and write the det ails of the monitor and your place of purchase i n the space on page (ii) of this manual for future reference.
5 5 4 4 Hardware Installation Connecting the Monitor Base Remove the base from the packin g box and place it on the desk. Next, remove the LCD display and carefully seat it on t he base. (See fig.1-1 ) Figure 1-1 Vie w ing Angle Adjustment The LCD Monitor is designed to a llow users to have a comfortable viewing angle.
6 6 Connecting the Display to y our Computer Using the VGA cable 1. Power of f your computer . 2. Connect one end of the VGA signal cable to the LCD Monitor ’s VGA port. (See Fig 1-3) 3. Connect the other end of the signal ca ble to the VGA port on your PC.
7 7 5 5 Windows driver Installation The DV170J/JB is fully Windows Plug a nd Play compatible so n o specific Windows drivers are required for in stallation. Windows 98, ME, and 2000 The first time you start Win dows after co nnecting your new monitor , the system will detect the monitor and automatically start the Add Ne w Hardware wizard.
8 8 6 6 Setting the Display Resolution Choosing The Best Resolution All Liquid Crystal Displ ays (LCDs) have a fixed resolution that is the same as the maximum resolution that may be displayed on the LCD. In the case of the DV170J/JB the LCD re solution is 1280 x 1024 pixels.
9 9 If you are using an Apple Macintosh, change the resolution by doing the following: MacOS 8.x/9.x 1. Click the Apple icon at the top, lef t corner of the screen, select Control Panel and then select Monitors . 2. Select a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels with between 60Hz refre sh rate.

13 13 7 7 Adjusting the Monitor User Controls A brief description and the location of all LCD Monitor function controls and indicators: Figure 2-1 1 Soft Power S witch Press the power switch to switch the monitor ON/OFF . 2 Power- On Indicator LED lights Green color --- Power is ON.
14 14 Adjusting the Monitor's Display The monitor has four function co ntrol buttons to select among functions shown on OSD menu, designed for easy user-viewing environments.
15 15 Colour Temperature This function lets you select a colour temperature. Using the Ad justment Control buttons to select the requi red colour temperature. Please see the diagram below for function and description. (Not available w hen using DVI). OSD H.
16 16 The monitor will remember the settings obtained by the auto calibration settings and use them whenever you turn the monitor on. Note that you may need to readjust the monitor if it is connec ted to a differe nt computer or if the computer ’s graphics a daptor is replaced .
17 17 Please Note: Y ou must use one of the factory modes wh en manually adjusting th e picture. If you are having dif ficulties generating a sup ported mode, ask your computer dealer or the distributor or manufa cturer of your graphics card for assist ance.
18 18 8 8 Frequently Asked Questions The image is blurred, how can I get the best quality picture? ♦ Read chapter 6, Setting the Di splay Resolution , and select a graphi cs signal with the correct re solution and refresh rate. Then read ch apter 7, Adjusting the Monitor , and ma ke adjustments to the di splayed image based on these instructions.
