Quick Installation Guide Wireless USB 2.0 1-Port Mult i-Functional Printer Server Model # AMPS240W This Quick Installation Guide onl y provides basic in structions. For detailed information on using this product, plea se refer to the User’s Manual on the supplied CD.
Step 1 Power down the printer and the printer server. Step 2 Connect one end of a networking cabl e to your router, then connect the other end to the Ethernet port on the back of the print serve r. Step 3 Connect the USB cable coming from your printer into the USB port on the printer server.
Note: If the autorun windo w does not appear automatically, go to Start -> Run and type D:UtilitySetup.exe (where D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive) and click OK .
Step 3 Click Nex t at the welcome screen. Step 4 Click Nex t at the Choose Destination Location screen..
Step 5 Click Nex t at the Select Program Folder . Step 6 Once the installation is complete, make sure that the Launch PS-Link box is checked and click Finish .
Configuring the Printer Server Note: The following step s o nly need to be performed one time from one computer. Step 1 Click the Discov er button and your printer should show up unde r Server Name . If your print server does not show up, check all po we r and network cable conne ctions to the printer.
Step 3 A password box will appear. The default password i s admin . Enter it and click OK . Step 4 Click Nex t at the welcome screen..
Step 5 At the System screen you ca n change the Server Name , Port Name , and Password . Click Next after makin g the desired changes. If you do not have a specific Server Name, Port Name , or Password that you wou ld like to use, click Next to accept t he default settings.
Step 7 At the Wireless Encryption screen you ca n enter the wireless se cu rity settings of your router. If y ou do not use encryption, click Disable and then Next . If you are using encryption, you can get the encryption settings from your router or router manufacturer and enter them here.
Step 8 If you have a specific IP address you would like to assi gn to the print server, sel e ct Manually Assign and enter your custom settings. Otherwise, select DHCP Assign Auto matically and click Next . Step 9 If your network uses a workgroup name other than WORK GROUP, you can enter it here, or accept the default settings, and click Nex t .
Step 10 If you have specific AppleTalk settings, you can e nter them here or accept the default settings, and click Ne xt . Step 11 Click Save to save the changes to your print server. If you plan to use the print server wi relessly, you can now discon nect the Ethernet cable between the print server and the router.
Configuring the Computer Note: The following step s must be completed on all computers you plan to use with the print server. Step 1 Double click on the PS-Link icon in t he system tray to open the PS-Lin k software. Step 2 Click the Discov er button and your printer should show up unde r Server Name .
Step 4 Click OK at the Lin k Successfully screen. You will see no tices appearing in the bottom right-hand co rn er of your screen while Windows configures the printer.
Congratulations, the config uration i s now complete. Remember to repeat all steps in Section 4 on ea ch of the computers you plan to use with the print server.
Wireless Troubleshooting If you are experiencing problems with the wirel ess co nnection (print server does not appear when you click discover , print jobs do not con si stently work/finish, only able to communicate with the print server intermittently) you will want to tune your router’s signal by changing channels on the ro uter.
