3 101283 SAFETY INFORMA TION Continued WARNING ICON G 001 W ARNINGS Continued Propane Gas: Propane gas is odorless. An odor-making agent is added to propane gas. The odor helps you detect a propane gas leak. However, the odor added to propane gas can fade.
4 101283 PRODUCT IDENTIFICA TION THEOR Y OF OPERA TION The Fuel System: The hose/regulator assembly attaches to the propane gas supply. This provides fuel to the heater. The Ignition System: The piezo ignitor lights the pilot fuel supply. The Automatic Control System: The automatic control valve shuts off the heater if the flame goes out.
5 101283 PROP ANE SUPPL Y You must provide propane gas and propane tank(s). Use this heater only with a propane vapor withdrawal supply system. See Chapter 5 of the Standard for Storage and Handling of Liquified Petroleum Gas, ANSI/NFPA 58. Your local library or fire department will have this booklet.
6 101283 4. Open propane supply valve on propane tank(s) slowly. Note: If not opened slowly, excess-flow check valve on propane tank will stop gas flow.
7 101283 WARNING ICON G 001 W ARNING Review and understand the warnings in the Safety Informa- tion Section. They are needed to safely operate this heater.
8 101283 5. If pilot light goes out, repeat step 4. 6. When pilot remains lit, fully open main burner valve. Do this by turning main burner valve handle towards the ON position until it stops. Note: Arrows on main burner valve handle show directions for ON and OFF.
9 101283 SYMPTOM Pilot fails to light. Pilot lights but goes out when automatic control valve button is released. Maximum burn rate is low. Soot forming inside heater, flame 100% yellow. POSSIBLE CAUSE 1. Propane supply valve closed on propane tank(s).
