2 1. Introdu ction Congratulat ions on your purchase of the W ireless N Ultra Mini USB Adapter. 3 2. Inst all the Wir eless A dapter This section p rovides instructions on ho w to install the Wireless N Ultra Mini US B Adapter. Step 2.1 In sert the USB adapter into a n available USB slot on your computer. Step 2.2 Click Canc el if you see the Found New Hardwa re Wizard .
4 Step 2.3 In sert the Installation CD in the CD drive. Note : If the Au torun screen doe sn’t appear automatically, g o to My Computer , do uble click your CD ROM d rive. Step 2.4 The A utorun screen will pop up. Sele ct Install Utilit y and Driver from the menu.
5 Step 2.5 Se lect the language and c lick Next . Step 2.6 Click Nex t and follow the instructions on the window to f inish installation. Step 2.7 Give Permission t o W indow to install th e driver software. Windows 7 / Vista Users: Click th e Instal l this driver softw are any w a y .

9 3. Connec t to the Wir eless Netw ork This section d escribes how to connec t your wireless adapter to a wirele ss network. For Windows 7 Users: You can use the utility built in W indows 7 or Airlink101 W ireless Monitor to manage this wireless USB a dapter.
10 For All Windows Users: Step 3.1 Af ter rebooting the comput er, open Airlink101 W ireless Monitor utility by double clicking o n the Airlink101 W ireless Monitor Utility icon on your desktop.
11 Step 3.3 Ente r the wireless security key into t he Network Ke y box if the network you are attempt ing to connect has wireless secu rity enabled. Click OK . Step 3.4 The co nnection should be now established. Ve rify that IP Address , Subne t Mask and Gateway have valid numb ers assigned to them (inst ead of all 0’s).
12 Congratulations! You have now c onnected to the wireless network s uccessfull y . Troubleshoo ting 1. If you cannot open the wireless mo nitor utility, make su re that the USB adapter is inserted f irmly into the USB port.

Config ure Wireles s Monit or This section d escribes the various func tions of the Airlink10 1 W ireless Monito r that you can conf igure, including the settings of wireless encryption. 4.1 General The Ge neral tab provides you with th e status of the current connect ion, including signal, network n ame (SSID) and IP Addre ss.
14 Radio Off disab les the wireless fu nction of the adapter. Disable Adapter will completely disa ble the wireless adapte r. Note: V irtual W iFi allowed is not supp orted in this utility version. 4.2 Profile Settings The Profile t ab lists the current profiles and allows you to create new prof iles.
15 To create a new prof ile, click on A dd . The Profile b ox will appea r allowing you to specify the settings for your ne w profile or to cha nge settin gs for your existing pro file. Enter a Pro file Name and SSID . Enter the encryption settin gs for the profile.
16 4.3 Available Network The Available network tab lists all of the networks th at the adap ter detects in your area. Clicking Refresh will ref resh the list.
17 4.4 Status The status section provides you with a list of information a bout the current status of the adapte r..
18 4.5 Statistics The Statistics section gives you inf ormation about transm it and receive packet count..
19 4.6 Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) The W i-Fi Protected Setu p™ ( WPS ) is a ne w and ea sy way to configure t he encryption f or your wireless ne twork clients. In order to use it, you need to have a router that supports this feature , like the AR570W or AR675W Airlink101 W ireless N Router.
20 Choose your configuration me thod: - F o r P ush Button method, click Pus h Button Conf ig (PBC) tab, continue to Step 4.6.2a - For Pin Input Config method, click P in Input Config (PIN) tab., c ontinue to Step 4.6.3a Step 4.6 .2a If you choose the Push Button method; click the Pus h Button Config (PBC) tab.
21 Step 4.6 .3a If you choose the Pin Code me thod, write down the PIN and click Yes . Select the Access Point that you want to connect, and then click S elect .
22 Step 4.6.3b Log on to your router’s conf iguration page f rom the web b rowser and click on W ireless . Then click WPS . Step 4.6 .3c Make sure that the Disable W PS is not checked . Enter the Pin Code in the Client Pi n Number box and click Start PIN .
23 After a few mom ents both the router conf iguration screen and the adapter configuratio n screen should show a messa ge telling you th at a connect ion is established . Note: If you cannot conn ect successfu lly with WPS, you nee d to log in to your router’s configuratio n and click on W ireless .
24 4.7 Configuring Wireless Security This se ction describes th e differen t types of encryption available and how to configure them. In mos t cases, encryption type wil l be automatically configured a nd all you need is to ente r the Network ke y , as de scribed in Se ction 3, Step 3.

26 4.7.1 Configuring WE P encryption Select W EP from the Data e ncryption box. Under Netw ork Authentication , you will wan t to se lect Shared key or Open System , depend ing on the router settings. Select the encryption setting acco rding to the setting of the ro uter.
27 4.7.2 Configuring WP A/WPA2-PSK Enc ryption (for home use rs) Select WP A -PSK/WP A2-PSK from the Netw ork Authentication bo x. Under Data encryption select e ither A ES or TKIP depending on the se ttings for your router. Enter the encryption key that the rou ter is u sing into the Ne twork Key box.
28 4.7.3 Configuring WP A/WPA2 Encr yption (for corpora te networks) Select WP A 802 .1x / WP A 2 802.1 x from the Netw ork A uthentication box. Under Data encryption select e ither TKIP or AES depen ding on the set tings for the router.
29 4.8 Ad-hoc and Peer-to-Peer Wireless Networks Ad-hoc net working is used when you want t o connect two or more computers together but you don’t have a router. In a d-hoc mode, you lose many fea tures that com e with a router. T he maximum connection sp eed d rops to 1 1Mbps.
30 You can a lso choose between no security or W EP security. If you choose W EP security, you can follow the instruct ions in the Configuring Encr yption section of the manual. Click OK to sa ve the prof ile. Select your new profile f rom the Available Prof ile(s) box, and doub le click to enable it.
