- 1 - INTRODUCTION The 802.11g W ireless L AN Card is a device that allows you to conn ect your computer to a Wireles s Local Area Network (WLAN). A wireles s LAN allo ws your system t o use wirele ss Radio Frequenc y (RF) technology to transmit and receive data without having to phy sically attach to the netw ork.

- 3 - LED Indicators For Wi reless CardBus Card Pow er Indicator: (Orange LED) This LED will illu minate w hen th e driver is installed. Act Indicator: (Green LED) This LED flickers w hen the cardbus is transm itting/receiv ing data.
- 4 - INSTALLATION Caution: Do not insert the Cardbus adapter into your computer until the procedures in “ Install the Driver & Utility ” have been perf ormed. Install th e Driv er & U tility 1. Exit all Windows program s. Insert the CD into th e CD drive of your compu ter.
- 5 - 4. The Choose De stination L ocation screen w ill show you the defau lt destination chosen by th e utility. Click Next to continue. 5. Follow the in struction to select the program folder.

- 7 - Install the device Note : Make sure th e procedures in “ Install the Driver & Utility ” have been performed. In most cases, Windo ws will a utomatically install the driver after the computer is restarted, if the Found New Hardware Wizard appears, follow the steps below.

- 10 - Verify Dev ice Installation To verify th at the driver has been properl y inst alled in your com puter, go to Sta rt Æ Settings Æ Control Panel Æ Syste m ( Æ Hardware) Æ Device Manager . Expan d the Network ad apters item. If th e 802.11g Wireless CardBus PC Card is listed, it means that yo ur device is properly instal led and enabl ed.
- 11 - CONFIGURATI ON After successfully installing the driver and utility, a Utility Icon will appear on the des ktop. If the Utility Icon doesn ’t appear automatically, go to Start Æ (All) Program s Æ WlanUtility Æ Wireless LAN Utility .

- 14 - Preferred SSID Ty pe in the SSID of the ta rget de vice y ou want to connec t to. BSS Type You can select the connection t ype: Peer -to-Pe er , Access Po int or Auto Mode . Tx Rate You can select the data rate or set to auto mode from the pull -down me nu.
- 15 - Frag m ent Thre shold You can fragment the M SDU or MMP DU into smaller siz es to increa sing the relia bility of frame transm ission. (The m aximum value of 409 6 means no fra gmenta tion is ne eded). T h e thro ughpu t perform ance will de crease howev er.
- 16 - A dvanced Tab The Advan ced tab displays the curren t status of the Wireless Netw o rk Ada pte r. Privacy Tab Use the Privacy Tab to configure your encryption settings. WEP encryption or WPA- PSK can be used to ensu re the security of your wireless n etwork.
- 17 - Privacy Mode Choose either WEP or WP A mode and cl ick Configure : ( Note : CCX is not av ailable for this adapter). WEP is a d ata security mechanis m based on a 40 Bit (a.k.a. 6 4 Bit)/128 B it/256 Bit share d key algorithm . WPA is more secure than WEP, a nd shoul d be used if possible.

A key of 10 hexadeci mal charact ers (0-9, A-F) is required if a 40-bit (a .k.a. 64- bit) Ke y Size is selected. A key of 26 hexadeci mal charact ers (0-9, A-F) is required if a 128-bit Key Siz e is selected.
- 20 - Statist ics Tab The Statistics Tab displays any available statistics including Receive packets, T ransm it packets, Ass ociation reject packet s, Associat ion tim eout packets , Authen tication reject pack ets, and Authentication tim eout packets .

- 22 - UNINSTALLATION If y ou need to uninstall the driver an d utility, follow the steps below. (When you uninstall th e utility, the driver w ill be uninstalled as well.) 1. Go to Start Æ (All) Program s Æ WlanUtility Æ Uninstall Wireless LAN Utility.
