Quick Installation Guide Model # APSUSB201W Ve r. 1 A.
Section 1 Caution: Bef ore beginning the installation, ma ke sure that the printer driver is installed locally on e a ch computer that will print through the print server. Otherwise, the print server will not be configured successfully . Plea se refer to your printer’s ma nual for in structions on how to install the printer driver .
Ste p 1 Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 port of the print server a nd atta ch the other end of the cable to a router. Ste p 2 Ma ke sure the printer is powered OFF , then connect one end of the USB cable to the USB port of the print server a nd atta ch the other end of the cable to the USB port of the printer .
Section 3 Installing Software Ste p 1 Insert the provided CD a nd wait for the setup menu to a ppear . Ste p 2 Click on Install Utility . Note: If the setup menu does not a ppear automatically after you have inserted the CD, go to Start , Run , type D:PS Utilitysetup.
Ste p 4 Click Next . Ste p 5 Click Ye s . Ste p 6 Click Finish ..
Section 4 Running PS Utility Note: If your TCP/IP setting from Section 1 ha s a n IP Address of 192.168.1.x (where x is a number between 2 - 253 ) AND your Default Gateway is 192.168.1.1 , you may skip this section a nd proceed to Section 5, V erifying Network Connection .
Ste p 4 Refer ba ck to the TCP/IP setting from Se ction 1. Note the first three sets of numbers from the IP Addre ss you wrote down a nd enter them into the respective fields. For exa mple : If your computer’s IP Addres s is 192.168.0 .100 , enter the sa me three numbers: 192.
V erifying Network Connection Ste p 1 Click on Start , Run . Ste p 2 For Windows 95/98/ME type comma nd a nd click OK . For W indows 2000/XP , type cmd an d click OK . Ste p 3 At the comma nd prompt, type ping a nd the IP Addre ss of the print server a nd press Enter .
Section 6 Running PS Wizard W arning: Ma ke sure you have installed the printer driver locally on every computer in your network before running the PS Wizard. Otherwise, the PS Wizard will not run properly. Be sure to run the PS Wizard on all the computers in your network.
Section 4 Ste p 3 Click Next . Ste p 4 Select the printer that is connected to the print server a nd click Next ..
Ste p 5 Double-click on the Print Server Na me , select the Printer Port Na me , a nd click Next . Ste p 6 Click Reboot (for Windows 95/98/ME) or Finish (for Windows 2000/XP). Ste p 7 Run the PS Wizard on all the computers in your network that will use the print server .
Section 7 Configuring Wirele ss Printing The following section describes how to setup the print server for wireless printing. It is strongly recommended that you test the print server with a wired connection first before moving on to configure wireless printing.
Ste p 4 If you are printing through a wireless router , ma ke sure the Connection Mode is set to Infra structure . Ste p 5 T ype in the SSID (network na me) of your wireless router in the SSID field , or use the drop-down menu directly below the SSID field to choose your wireless router.
Ste p 8 V erify your wireless connection with the steps outlined in Section 5 . Y ou have succe ssfully configured the print server for wirele ss printing. Ste p 7 Click on Ma nage ment a nd go to Wirele ss . V erify that the Connection Mode is Infra structure a nd the Link is Ye s .
If you wa nt to print directly to the print server (bypa ssing the wirele ss router), follow the ste ps below . Y ou should use a wired connection to configure the following wirele ss settings before un plugging the network cable from the print server.
