- 1 - INTRODUCTION The is a device that allows y o u connect your computer to a wireles s local area netw ork (LAN). A wirele ss LAN allows your system to use wireless Radio Frequency (RF) technology to transmit and receive data without physically a ttaching to the network.
- 2 - You can also use one computer as an Internet Se rver to connect to a wired global network and share files and inform ation w ith other computers via a wireless LAN. The Access Point Network The network installation allows you to shar e fil es, printers, an d Internet access much more conveniently.
- 3 - INSTALLATION Caution: Do not insert the Wireless LAN Card into your computer until the procedures in “ Install the Driver & Utility ” has been performed. Install Driver & Utility 3. Exit all Windows programs. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD - R O M drive of y our computer.

- 6 - Install the device 1 Note : Make su re the procedures in “ Install Driver & Utility ” has been performed. 1. If you are using t he WL-8000PCI Card, before installi ng the device, make sure the com puter is turned off. Remove the expansion slot cover from t he computer.
- 7 - Note for Windows XP users: 1. Select Install the software automatically (Recommended) and click Next. 4. Click Finish to complete the installation .
- 8 - Verify Device Installation To verify that the device has been properly ins talled in your computer and is enabled, go to Star t Se ttings Control Panel Sy ste m ( Hardware) Device Manager .
- 9 - NETWORK CONNECTION Once the driver has b een installed, you wi ll need to make adjustments to your network settings. In Windows 98/ME 1. Go to Start Settings Control Panel Network . 2. Make sure t hat you have all the following compone nts installed.
- 10 - If any components are missing, click on the Add button to install th em. All of the protocols and clients required (liste d above) are pr ovided by Microsoft. 3. Next, highli ght the specific ne twork component yo u need, click Add . 4. Highli ght Micros oft , and then d oub le click on the item you want to add.
- 11 - 6. Click the Access Control tab. Make sure t hat “ Share-level access control ” is selected. If connecting to a Netware server, share level can be set to “ User-level acc ess control .

- 14 - 4. Select the netw ork protocol you wish to add and cl ick OK . This will return you to the Local Area Connections Properties window. 5. To allow you r computer to be visi ble on the networ k, make sure you have checke d off the File and Printer Sh aring for Microsoft Networks .
- 15 - CONFIGURATION After successful installation of the WL-8000PCM/PCI ’s driver , the utility icon will display in the task bar. You will be able to access the Configuration Utility through the Network Status icon.
- 16 - Main Tab The main tab enables you to scan for av ailable networks, se lect a network to which to connect, modify th e settings for the current c onnection, or set up your station for Ad Hoc connection.
- 17 - Note : Only one configur ation utility can be active a t a time. When the ZCU is set to be the active utility, opening the TI utility - by double-clicking on the utility icon in the system tray or right-c licking the icon and selecting Open - laun ches the ZCU inserted of the TI utility.

- 21 - LEAP (only with CCX mode enabled) The Personal Certificate window enables you to supply a personal certificat e fo r use with TLS and PEAP – MS-CHAP-V2 authentication. This window is only applicable with Enterprise security. Personal Certificate : To supply a personal certificate: 1.
