A higher capacity 2200 mAH can also be purchased. The 2200 mAH battery has an expected minimum battery life of 10-16 hours.

Operating the Axim 57 T o connect your device to the cradle: 1 Connect the AC adapter to the cra dle and to an electrical outlet. 2 Place the Axim in the docking cradle near your computer . 3 Connect the USB sync cable to the cradle and the computer .

Operating the Axim 59 Y ou can charge the battery using a 5V/500 mA USB port when the device is turned off. NOTE: Using an external USB hub with 5V/ 100 mA ports to charge the device battery may cause a temporary voltage dr op in the hub, and other USB devices connected to the ports on the hub may not work no rmally until the device is removed.

NOTE: The sync cable is optional depending on the configuration of your device. T o connect the sync cable: 1 Connect the sync cable connector to your device.
Operating the Axim 61 Connecting to a Projector Y ou can connect the device to a projector using a VGA cable. NOTE: The VGA option is available only with the VGA model of the device. The VGA cable will not ship with your device unless you order it. NOTE: Y ou need to install the Viewer program from the CD for the device to detect the projector .

T o install a Secure Digital memory card: 1 If a card or plastic blank is alr eady installed, press in to r elease it, and then remove it. 2 Ensure that the car d is oriented correc tly , and slide it into the slot until you feel a click.

Operating the Axim 67 Switcher Bar Y ou can also use Switcher Bar to swit ch to or close the open programs. T o launch Switcher Bar: 1 Ta p Start → Settings . 2 Ta p System → Switcher Bar . The Switcher Bar icon, , appears in the navigation bar . T ap to view a list of all open programs.

Operating the Axim 69 Pop-Up Menus W ith pop-up menus, you can quickly select an action for an item. F or e xample, you can use the pop-up menu in the contact list to delete a contact, make a copy , or send an e-mail message to a contact. The actions in the pop-up menus vary from program to program.

T o search for files or other items: 1 Ta p Start → P rograms → Search. 2 In Search for , enter the file name, word, or other information you want.

Operating the Axim 73 When you use the input panel, your device anticipates the word you ar e typing or writing and displays it above the input panel. When you tap the displayed word, the wor d is inserted at the insertion point. The more you use your device, the more wor ds it learns to anticipate.
www .dell.com | support.dell.com 74 Operating the Axim Letter Recognizer Letter Recognizer allows you to use your stylus to write letters on the screen as you would write them on paper . NOTE: Letter Recognizer is included with the Englis h, French, German, Italian, and Spanish operating sy stems.
Operating the Axim 75 T ranscriber T ranscriber allows you to write anywhe re on the scr een using the stylus similar to the way that you would write on paper . Unlike Letter Recognizer and Block Recognizer , you can write a sentence or more, and then pause to let T ranscriber change the written characters to typed characters.

Operating the Axim 77 If you want to convert only certain words, select them befor e tapping Recognize (or tap and hold the selected words and then tap Rec og n iz e on the pop-up menu). If a word is not r ecognized, it is not converted to print-style text.

Operating the Axim 79 Drawing on the Screen Y ou can draw on the screen the same way that you write on the scr een. However , selecting and editing drawings is different than selecting and editing written text. F or example, select ed drawings can be resized, while written text cannot.

Operating the Axim 81 Using My T ext When using Messaging or MSN Messenger , use My T ext to quickly insert preset or frequently used messages. T o insert a message, tap Menu → My T ex t and tap a message. NOTE: Y ou can add text to a My T ext message after you insert the message.

Communicating and Scheduling 95 When you connect to the e-mail server: • New messages are downloaded to the device Inbox folder . • Messages in the device Outbox folder are sent. • Messages that have been deleted on the e-mail server are removed from the device Inbox folder .

Communicating and Scheduling 97 Managing E-Mail Messages and Folders By default, messages are displayed in one of the five folders for each service you have created: Inbox , Deleted Items , Drafts , Outbox , or Sent Items . The Deleted Items folder contains messages that have been deleted on the device.

It secur es authentication and connection of wireless LAN (WLAN) us ers, ensuring that only authorized users can connect.

www .dell.com | support.dell.com 106 Getting Connected Using Cisco ® LEAP Wireless LAN Security Y our Dell Axim X50 supports 802.1x ne twork authentication between the client and server with a logon password using Cisco LEAP . Cisco LEAP can be configured using the Odyssey Client application.
