8 US CA Before y ou start 1 M ake sur e that the anti-tip bracket at the r ight rear of the range has been properly installed. 2 Open the main oven door and find the model and serial numbers on the label in the bottom right-hand corner of the oven frame (see the dra wing opposite).
9 US CA Impor tant! Do not block the vents of the oven, griddle and ov en door with cookware , utensils or towels. During cleaning, tak e care not to let any liquids run down these v ents.
10 US CA Conditioning the o ven Conditioning will burn off any manufacturing residues and ensur e that you get the best results right from the start. 1 I nsert all the shelves. See ‘P ositioning the shelves ’ for instructions. 2 Turn on the v entilation hood above your range on high.
11 US CA P ositioning the shelves Shelf positions are numbered fr om the bottom. Position the shelv es you will need befor e turning the oven on. F or advice on which shelf position to use, see sections ‘ Oven modes’ , ‘Oven c ooking guidelines’ , and ‘Baking charts’ .
12 US CA T o insert the shelves - MAIN OVEN Oven use 1 Make sure the guard rail is at the back, facing up and the slides are not extended. 3 Hook the rear tags over the wir es of the desired shelf position on both side racks. T o remov e the shelves 1 W ait for the ov en to cool down complet ely .
13 US CA T o insert the shelves - SEC ONDAR Y OVEN (48” models only) Oven use 1 Make sure the guard rail is at the back, facing up. 3 Tilt the front up slightly to help the saf ety stops clear the side rack wires. 4 Low er the shelf back onto the side rack wires and slide all the way into the oven.
14 US CA Oven use A CTIVIT Y OVEN MODE DESCRIPTION BAKING ROASTING REHEA TING DEFROSTING BAKE This is a traditional mode for baking, roasting , and reheating food , ideal for recipes dev eloped in older ovens . Great for your fa vourite roasts and baked goods that have a pastry base and do not require dir ect heat and browning on the top.

Pies Pizza Cakes Cookies Quiche Whole turkey If baking on more than one shelf , ensure items or pans are staggered on shelves so that one is never directly above another . Center items in the o ven as much as possible for best air circulation.
16 US CA Using your o ven for baking and roasting Oven use 1 Check that you have the shelf/shelv es you will need in place. If not, see section ‘Positioning the shelves ’ for instructions. 3 T urn the TEMPERATURE k nob counterclockwise to the desired temperature.
17 US CA Using your o ven for br oiling Oven use 1 Check that you have the shelf y ou will need in place. If not, see section ‘Positioning the shelves ’ for instructions. 3 T urn the TEMPERATURE k nob counterclockwise to BROIL or alternativ ely , a desired lower temperature .
18 US CA Using your o ven for pr oofing dough RDU/RDV-48 models Oven use 1 T urn the OVEN MODE knob of the secondary oven counterclockwise to PROOF . The oven will heat t o an ideal proofing temperature (100 o F) in about 3 minutes. 2 AFTER 3 MINUTES, place the dough in the oven in a co vered, heatpr oof bowl.
19 US CA Using your o ven for pr oofing dough All other models If your model has a secondary oven, we recommend using it f or proofing dough, as the smaller volume ensures a mor e even temperature . Oven use 1 T urn the OVEN MODE knob counterclockwise to BAKE and the TEMPERATURE knob counterclockwise to WARM.
20 US CA Oven cooking guidelines Impor tant! Use all the oven modes with the ov en door closed. Never use aluminum foil to co ver the oven shelv es or to line the floor of the oven. The trapped heat can irreversibly damage the enamel and may ev en cause fire.
21 US CA Oven cooking guidelines Roasting Use the broil/roast pan and slott ed grid supplied with the range when roasting , elevating the meat on a metal roasting rack. This allows hot air to cir culate around the meat, giving a more even browning and a r esult similar to a rotisserie.
22 US CA Baking char ts The settings in the following chart are guidelines only . Follow the instructions in your recipe or on food packaging and be prepared to adjust the o ven settings and baking times to achieve the best possible results for y ou. Settings in bold indicate the recommended method .

24 US CA Cookt op use Using the cookt op burners 1 Identify the knob of the burner you want to use. 3 When the burner has lit, turn the knob to any setting between HI (high) and SIM (simmer).
25 US CA Cookt op use Guidelines for using the cookt op burners All burners have the same low turn-down setting ( SIM ) for gentle simmering (1,300 B TU/hr). Use the SIM setting for melting chocolate and butter , cooking rice and delicate sauces, simmering soups and stews, and keeping c ooked food hot.
26 US CA Cookt op use Using the grill The grill has a rev ersible grate. It will change color with use as oils cook onto the surface. This is normal and doesn ’t affect grilling performance.
27 US CA Cookt op use Grill cooking guidelines Impor tant! Never leave the grill unattended during use . Grease drippings may cause short flare -ups or ev en sustained flaming. If left unattended, these may c ause fire. Make sure y ou have your ventilation hood set on maximum during grilling .
28 US CA DOs DON’T s Read these cleaning instructions and the ‘Safety and warnings’ sec tion befor e you start cleaning your range. Before cleaning or r emoving any part, make sure that everything on the range has been turned off .
29 US CA Car e and cleaning What? How ? Impor tant! Contr ol knobs, Oven handles, Kickstrip grate 1 Wipe with a damp cloth using a solution of mild detergent and hot water . 2 Dry thoroughly with microfiber cloth. If wished, the knobs can be removed for cleaning.
30 US CA Car e and cleaning What? How ? Impor tant! Oven parts Broil/roast pan and slotted grid 1 Pre-soak any stubborn soiling in a solution of mild detergent and hot water . 2 W ash by hand or in a dishwasher . Bake and broil burners (gas ovens) Do not clean these parts.

34 US CA Car e and cleaning Removing and replacing the o ven door Impor tant! Do not lift the oven door by its handle. Doing so may damage the door . Make sure the ov en and the door are cool before you begin to remov e the door .
35 US CA Car e and cleaning T o replace the o ven door 1 Hold the door firmly in an approximat ely halfway open position. 3 Open the door fully . 4 F ully close the levers on the left and right hinges, as shown, then close the door . 2 I nsert the hinge tongues into the slots, making sure that the notches on both sides drop into place as sho wn.
36 US CA Car e and cleaning Removing and replacing the side r acks T o remov e side racks T o replace side r acks 1 Remove an y shelves first. See section ‘Positioning the shelv es’ f or instructions. 1 Supporting the side rack with your hand from underneath, hold it almost horizontally and locate the prongs into the mounting slots.
37 US CA Car e and cleaning Replacing the burner parts Impor tant! When replacing the burners, mak e sure that the two locating pins on the bottom of the brass flame spreader are properly aligned with the locating pin holes on the top of the simmer ring .
38 US CA Car e and cleaning Replacing the oven light bulb Impor tant! Use a 40 W , 120 V appliance light bulb for replacement. Do not use a standard light bulb in any oven, the heat will break it. 1 Allow the oven (including the lamp c over and the bulb) to cool complet ely .
39 US CA Car e and cleaning Using the CLEAN cycle About the CLEAN cycle Main ovens in RDU/RDV and RGUC/RGVC models featur e a self-cleaning c ycle ( CLEAN ) which takes care of the mess and grime that is traditionally associated with ov en cleaning. During self- cleaning, the ov en reaches very high temperatures.
40 US CA Car e and cleaning T o start a CLEAN cycle 1 Remove ov en shelves, side racks and all other acc essories, bakeware, and ut ensils. S ee ‘Removing and replacing the side racks’ and ‘Positioning the shelves’ for instructions. 2 Wipe up an y spills or grease deposits and remov e any loose food soiling .
41 US CA Car e and cleaning When a CLEAN cycle has finished The halo around the temperatur e knob will go out. Y ou need to: 1 T urn the oven mode and t emperature knobs clockwise to OFF . The door may remain locked . Once the oven has cooled to a cooking temperature (this may take up to 30 minutes), the door will automatically unlock.

43 US CA T roubleshooting Problem P ossible causes What to do Ov en Condensation ar ound oven (e .g. on c ontrol panel or top of oven door .) F ood has high moisture content or local climate (temperature , humidity) is contributing to condensation. Condenstaion is normal.

The door is locked because a CLEAN cycle is under way or the oven has not yet c ooled to a cooking temperature after a CLEAN cycle. See section ‘Using the CLEAN cycle’ in ‘Care and cleaning ’ for information.
45 US CA T roubleshooting Problem P ossible causes What to do Cooktop burners Some burners will not light. Flames do not burn all around the burner cap . Burner parts or ignitors may be wet, dirty, or misaligned . Check that the burner parts are clean, dry, and c orrectly assembled.
46 US CA T roubleshooting Problem P ossible causes What to do Cooktop burners The burner flames are uneven, v ery large, yellow or y ellow-tipped or sooty . T echnical fault: the gas is the wrong type or hasn ’t been adjusted properly . Do not use your cooktop burners.
