8 GAS REQUIREMENTS GAS REQUIREMENTS: Ve rify the type of gas supply to be used, either natural or LP . Make sure the marked gas on the appliance rating plate(s) and hook-up kit agrees with that of the supply . Never c onnect an unregulated gas line to the appliance.
9 GAS REQUIREMENTS LP T ANK REQUIREMENTS A dented or rusty LP tank may be hazardous and should be checked by y our LP supplier . Never use a cylinder with a damaged valve . T he LP gas cylinder must be constructed and marked in accordance with the specifications for LP gas cylinders of the U.
10 LEAK TESTING & LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS WA R N ING: Do not sm oke while leak testing . Extinguish all open flames. Ma ke a soap solution of one par t liquid detergent, and one par t water . Never test for leaks with an open flame. F or LP units, check with a full cylinder .
11 LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS MA TCH LIGHTING Hold a fireplace lit match near the burner ports, turn the control knob counterclockwise to “HI” .M o v e y our hand immediately once the burner is lit.
12 FINAL CHECKLIST Specified clearances maintained to combustibles . Pr ofessional Side Burner is properly mounted . All internal packaging removed . Burner is seated properly and does not rock. Each burner lights satisfactorily , individually or with adjacent burner lit.
13 GENERAL CLEANING BURNERS Fo r proper lighting and performance k eep the burners clean. I t is necessary to clean the burners if they do not light even though the igniter clicks , if there has been a severe boil o ver , or when the flame does not burn blue.
14 TROUBLESHOO TING Burner won ’t light when the ignition is pushed. Burner flame is yellow or orange , in c onjunction with the odor of gas. Lo w heat with k nob in “HI” position. Remove the burner grat e. With the control knob in the “OFF” position, listen to the electrode while engaging the ignition.
