CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 4 DESCRIPTION The CBX800 is a Gateway connection bo x which can be used as an ac cessory to facilitate system connections for installation and device replaceme nt of se veral Datalogic family reading devices.
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 5 ACCESSORIES The following accessories are avail able on request for the CBX800: Name Description Part Number BM200/210 Ethernet TCP/IP Module STD/IP65 93AC C1851, 93ACC185.
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 6 ACCESS TO INTERNAL PARTS To make installation and replac ement easier, the CBX800 is made up of three parts: 1) the body of the device co ntaining all el ectronic componen.
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 7 MECHANICAL INSTALLATION CBX800 can be mounted to various wooden or plastic su rfaces using two self-threa ding screws (3.9 x 45 mm) and washers. Mounting to other surfaces such as concrete walls or metallic panels requires appropriate user-suppl ied parts (screws, screw anchors, nuts, etc).
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 8 NOTE Vdc is electrically connected to +V, just as GND is electrically connected to -V. T his is useful for supplying external trigger, inp uts and outputs from the CBX800 power source, how ever +V and -V signals should not be used as power supply inp uts to the CBX800.

CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 10 The input power signals Vdc , GND and Earth as well as the network signals REF , ID+ , ID- and Shield ; and RTX+ , RTX- and SGND are repe ated to facilitate system cabling. In this way the power and net work busses can enter and exit the CBX800 from different spri ng clamps but be physically connected tog ether.
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 11 SOURCE CHASSIS GROUNDI NG JUMPER SETTINGS The reading device chassis gr ounding method can be selected b y positioning a jumper (see Figure 8 ). In this way the reading device chassis c an be connected to earth gr ound (only if pin Earth is connected to a good earth ground).

CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 13 The Net Type selector switch allows setting the Gateway type: Serial (Non e), Fieldbus, ID-NET™ network: all non net work applications (Typology Role = Other) must be set to None (0) . ID-NET ™ Slaves must be set to Slave Multidata (9) , (same ID-NET™ network Topology Role as the ID -NET™ Master).
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 14 ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS POWER SUPPLY CBX0 0 can accept power from the conn ected reading devi ce through the 25-pin connector, or thro ugh t he dedicated spring clamp connector (see sectio n Power Source Jumper Setting s ).
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 15 Host RS232 Interface The RS232 interface can be used for connections to the host computer allowing transmission of code data.
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 16 Host RS485 Full-Duplex Interface The RS485 full -duplex (5 wires + shie ld) interface is used for no n-polled communication p rotocols in point-to-point connections over longer dista nces (max 1200 m / 3940 ft) than those acceptable for RS 232 communications or in electrically noisy enviro nments.
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 17 Host RS485 Half-Duplex Interface The RS485 half-dupl ex (3 wires + shield) interface is used for polled communic ation protocols.
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 18 AUXILIARY INTERFACE All CBX800s have an RS 232 auxiliary interface availa bl e on the 9-pin connector bel ow, which can be linked to another host computer or an external s ystem. This inte rface is mainly used for CBX8 00 configuration through Genius™, the multilanguage software tool.
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 19 DATA SOURCE INTERFACE The Data Source port can b e used for configuration and data monitoring purposes. It allows full RS232/RS485 connectivity and is software selectable.
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 20 NOTE For applications that do not u se RX485 signals, do not lea ve these lines floating but connec t them to SGND as shown below .
CBX800 INSTALLATION MANUAL 21 INPUTS The two optocoup led polarity insensitiv e inputs, Input 1 (Exter nal Trigger Input) and Input 2, a generic input, available on the CB X800 spring clamp terminal blocks, are managed by the read er connected to the 25-pin connector.
