1 This chapter will e xplain the var ious controls and inputs and outputs you will find on y our Daew oo HDTV . T op panel controls and front panel lights On the top of the HDTV , you will find the f ollowing controls: 1. VOL (V olume) buttons Use these buttons to chang e your HDTV's v olume or to move the cursor in the menu screens.
2 HDT V HD T V On the front panel of the HDTV , you will find: 1. T imer Indicator Lights up red when you hav e set the HDTV's automatic timers. 2. Power Indicator Lights up green when y ou have turned the HDTV on. 3. Remote Control Signal Sensor Receives signals from the r emote control.
3 HDT V HD T V Rear panel inputs and outputs 1. Digital Audio Inputs and Outputs Use these inputs and outputs to connect digital audio systems and Digital Video Disc (D VD) players. Y our HDTV provides a c hoice of either coaxial or optical connections.
4 HDT V HD T V Remote control overview The remote control has the f ollowing functions: 1. POWER button Press to turn the HDTV (and other equipment) on and off.
5 HDT V HD T V 11. SOUND button Press to select a sound option: Mono, Stereo, or Secondar y A udio Programming (SAP). When you tune to a digital c hannel, press to select various languages. 12. SLEEP TIMER button Press to select the time bef ore the HDTV turns off: 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, or 120 minutes.
6 HDT V HD T V Installing the batteries in the remote control 1. Remove the battery compar tment lid from the back of the remote control by pressing on the lid and sliding it off. 2. Insert two AAA batteries into the compar tment. Match the + and — on the batteries to the + and — in the compar tment.
7 Connecting your HDT V CAUTION - Make sure y our HDTV is unplugged bef ore connecting equipment. This chapter e xplains how to connect all of your equipment to the HDTV . Bef ore you begin, Daewoo suggests y ou make sure y ou have all of the cables and wires y ou will need.
8 HDT V HD T V Indoor/outdoor antenna and cable TV If you hav e a cable box, plug the cable from the wall into the IN terminal of the cable box. Connect a coaxial cable between the OUT terminal of the cable box and the antenna input on the HDTV labeled IN.
9 HDT V HD T V VCR with a cable box T o connect a VCR with a cable box, f ollow the diagram below . If you ar e connecting a mono VCR, connect only L/MONO . Digital Satellite System (DSS) or Laser Disc (LD) T o connect a Digital Satellite System or Laser Disc, follo w the diagram below .
10 HDT V HD T V HD component and audio system T o connect a HD component and audio system, follo w the diagram below . ❑ NOTE: After you connect a digital audio system, you will need to use the menus to set it up. Please see “Setting up Digital Audio” on page 22.
11 HDT V HD T V Camcorder The V ideo 4 inputs on the side of the HDTV make it easy to connect a camcorder . T o do this, follo w the diagram below . Speakers T o connect standard speakers, follow the diagr am below .

Using the on-screen menu system Daew oo has designed an easy-to-use menu system for controlling y our television.
13 HDT V HD T V Setting the time and date 1. Press the MENU button to displa y the MAIN MENU. 2. Press the up/down arrow buttons to highlight SETUP . 3. Press the SEL button. The SETUP menu is display ed. 4. Use the up/down arrow buttons to highlight Time Setting.
14 HDT V HD T V 6. Use the Number (0-9) buttons on the remote control to enter the time. For e xample, to enter 12:45 press 1, 2, 4, and 5. 7. Use the up/down arrow buttons to select A (AM) or P (PM) then press the right ar row button to mov e to the Date field.
15 HDT V HD T V 3. Press the PREV button to return to the SETUP menu. 4. Use the up/down arrow buttons to highlight Channel Setup and then press the SEL button. The CHANNEL SETUP menu is display ed. 5. Use the up/down arrow buttons to highlight Channel Scanning and then press the SEL button.
16 HDT V HD T V Adding/erasing channels Y ou can easily add or er ase channels that y our HDTV memor ized. T o do this: 1. From the MAIN MENU highlight SETUP and pr ess the SEL button. 2. Highlight Channel Setup and press the SEL button. 3. Highlight Add/Erase Channel.
17 HDT V HD T V Fine tuning channels Y ou can fine tune channels that do not appear as c learly as they should. ❑ NOTE: Y ou cannot fine tune a digital channel. Digital channels either appear perfectly tuned or they do not appear at all. T o fine tune a channel: 1.

19 HDT V HD T V Selecting favorite channels Y our HDTV can store up to 16 c hannels that you can quickl y select by using the ar row buttons on the remote contr ols. T o store and select your f avorite channels: 1. From the MAIN MENU , use the up/down arrow buttons to highlight PREFERENCE.
20 HDT V HD T V Selecting a source Y ou can choose to vie w any of the input sources that y ou have connected to y our HDTV . T o do this: Press the TV/VIDEO button on the HDTV or on the remote control. Each time y ou press either button, the HDTV will display one of the sources that are av ailable.

23 HDT V HD T V • Dolby Surround (L, R, C, Ls, Rs) Select if you hav e connected e xter nal rear surround speakers and wish to listen to full Dolb y Surround Sound. • 3 Stereo (L, R, C) Select to hear sound from a left, r ight and center speaker system.
24 HDT V HD T V • W oofer V olume Use the left/right ar row buttons to adjust the volume of a subwoof er . The rang e of this control is between 0 and +63. • Center Delay Use the left/right ar row buttons to adjust the dela y time f or sound that comes from the center speaker .

For e xample, when a TV station cuts from a movie to a commercial, the audio may suddenl y become much louder than the prog ram y ou were watc hing.

34 Setting Locks and Limits Y our HDTV can set locks and limit the kinds of prog rams that y our family can w atch. Y ou can do this by choosing a pass wor d and a settings a ratings limit. Changing the password 1. Press MENU and highlight LOCKS & LIMITS.

Daew oo provides two differ ent timer s for y ou to use. The On/Off timer tur ns the HDTV on and off just once on the day y ou set it, or on and of f at the same time ever yday . The sleep timer lets you set the TV to automatically turn of f after 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes.
