6 COOKING GUIDELINES SLOW COOKING Slow cooking is perfect for foods that requir e long, slow simmering, such as soups, stocks, stews, and dried beans. 7 STEAMING Steaming is one of the healthiest methods of cooking. No butter or oil is requir ed and fewer nutrients are lost in the steaming pr ocess. Four cups/one quart of water is used for basic steaming unless otherwise specified.
