9 T O ST OP ENGINE 1. Run engine for a few minutes before stopp ing to help dry o ff any m oisture on the engine. 2. To help prevent possibl e freeze -up of starter , proceed as follows : Optional Elect ric St arter Connec t power cord to switch bo x on engi ne, then to 120 volt AC recepta cle.
10 SHIFT ROD AD JUSTMENT To adjust the s hift rod, re move the cott er pin which secures the sh ift rod t o the s hift lever . For prop er adjustm ent, ref er to FINA L ADJUST MENTS on page 6. SKID SHO E A DJUS TMENT The space be tween the shav e plate and th e groun d can be adjusted .
11 SECTION 9: MAINTENANCE WARN ING: D isconnect the spark plug wire and ground a gainst the engine before performing any repairs or maintenance. AU G E R S The au gers a re secur ed to the sp iral s haft with tw o shear bolts and hex lock nu ts. See Fi gure 16.

13 Changing the Frict ion Wheel The rubber on the frict ion wheel is subje ct to wear and sh ould be ch ecke d after 25 hou rs of oper ation , and p eri odic all y ther eaf ter . Re plac e the fr iction wheel ru bber if signs o f exce ssive we ar or cr ackin g are found.
