SLOPE OPERATION Slopes are a major factor related to slip and fall accidents, which can result in severe injury. Operation on al! slopes requires extra caution, if you feel uneasy on a slope, do not mow it. 1. Mow across the face of slopes; never up and down.
OPERATION: The operation ofany lawn mower can result in foreign objects thrown into the eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safety glasses or eye shields while operating your lawn mower or performing any adjustments or repairs.
POLARIZED PLUG To reduce the risk of electric shock, this mower has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This mower must be used with a suitable polarized 2 wire or 3 wire extension cord. Polarized connections will fit together only one way.
A ,ILII.WARNING: For your own safety DO NOT use this mower without either the Grasscatcher or Mulch Insert in operating position. GRASSCATCHER ASSEMBLY • Slide the grassbag onto the grasscatcher frame. (See Fig. A) • The grassbag has attachment clips sewn around the bag opening.

TO STOP MOWER To stop mower fully release your grip on the operator presence control switch. ATTACHING EXTENSION CORD TO MOWER DO NOT connect the extension cord to power source until you have finished reading this manual and you are ready to start mowing.
Remember that the blade always turns when the motor is running. The Operator Presence Control Switch is a lever that you pul! back to start and run the mower.
MOWING PROCEDURE • Inspect area where mower is to be used and remove all stones, sticks, wire, bones, and other debris which might be thrown by the rotating blades. • Place most of the extension cord close to the electrical outlet, out of the path of the mower.
• Locate your hand in the handle pocket of the mulch insert, lift and pul! out the mulch insert completely. • The rear discharge door is spring loaded. When you release it the door will return tothe closed position. TO INSTALL MULCH INSERT • Shut the mower off, wait until the blade stops and unplug the mower.
• Sharpening the blade twice during a mow- ing season is usually sufficient under nor- mal circumstances. Sand causes the blade to dull fast. If your lawn has sandy soil, more frequent sharpen- ings are required. • Replace bent or damaged blade immediately.
LUBRICATION No lubrication is required. IMPORTANT: Do not oilor grease plastic wheel bearings. Viscous lubricants will attract dust and dirt and wil! shorten the life ofthe self-lubricating bearings. If you feel they must be lubricated, use only a dry, powdered graphite tube lubricant spanngly.
