Measurement Cable Connections Voltage Sensing at a Location Other than the External Current Shunt You may also need to open up the cable connector if you need to voltag e sense at a point other than at the external current shunt. You m ust use your own sense cable to m ake the voltage sense connections.
External Shunt Line and Load Connections The Agilent supplied current shunt has both input (line) and output (load) connectors. The customer m ust supply the cables to connect the ac lines to and from the external current shunt. Agilent supplies one hooded cable cover for the input of the ac source and two hooded cable cov ers for the shunt.
Check the External Current Shunt Setting After you hav e completed your cable connections, you can turn on and check out the ac source as described in the Turn-On C heckout chapter in the ac source User’ s Guide.
Using the Front Panel Display w ith the Power Analy zer Input To select the measurement source: Action Display Press Me te r to return the display to Meter mode. Press Phase Select at any tim e to toggle between the Main Output and the Power Analy zer input.
A dditional Measurement Commands The following additional m easurement com mands are provided with the A gilent Dual Power An alyzer Option 020/022. These m easurement comm ands are optimiz ed for use in specific applications such as evaluating uninterruptible power supplies.
MEASure:TVOLt:A BSolute? FETCh:TVOLt: A BSolute? Returns the tim e at which the absolute value of the measured v oltage first exceeds level , with the following qualifications: The behavior of the sig nal before start_ time is ignored, and the absolute value of the voltag e must rem ain above level for at least the specified min_ pulse_ width .
A dditional Sense Commands The following additional sense com mands are provided w ith the Agilent Dual Power A nalyzer Option 020/022. These comm ands let you select a measurem ent source and the frequency m easurement channel for the Power Analyz er input.
A dditional Frequency Modulation Commands The following SCPI commands are used to prog ram the output frequency of the ac source. These comm ands apply only to the Main O utput of the ac source and do not affect the measurem ent capability of the unit.
A dditional Calibration Commands The following SCPI commands are used to calibrate the Power Analy zer input and external current shunt: CA Librate:VOLTage: EXTernal In itiates calibration of the external voltage m easurement.
Behav ior Differences of Existing SCPI Commands This section documents the behav ior differences of existing SCPI com mands wh en the Power Analyzer input is selected or is active. MEA Sure | FETCh All standard ac source MEASure or FETCh functions are av ailable for the Main Output of the ac source as well as the Power Analyzer input.
Programming Example UPS Transfer Time Measurement The following prog ramm ing example illustrates how to use the ac source w ith the Dual Power Analy zer Option 020/022 to m easure transfer time on a UPS. Transfer time is defined as the tim e it takes a UPS to go from online-operation to battery -backup operation when the ac line fails.
Using the Pow er A naly z er Input w ith the GUI The Agilent AC Source Graphical User Interface (G UI) is an easy to use soft front panel for the A gilent 6800-series AC Power Source/Analy zers. It is supplied with y our ac source. With it, you can also control the Power Analyz er input on the back of the unit.
If y ou have both the Main Output and the Power Analyzer input display ed, the Main window should display both wav eforms, as illustrated in the following screen shot.
In the dialog box that appears on the screen, enter values for the indicated param eters. T he test uses these parameters to m ake the m easurement. For a detailed explanation of the Voltage Phase Difference parameters refer to the online help by pressing the F1 key .
Pow er A naly zer Input Specifications Table A-1 lists the specifications of the Agilent Dual Power Analy zer Option 020/022. Performance specifications are warranted over the am bient temperature rang e of 0 to 40 o C.

Verification and Calibration for Option 020/022 This section includes verification and calibration procedures for the Agilent Dual Power Analy zer Option 020/022. Add these procedures to those described in Appendix B of the AC Source User’ s Guide.
Verification Procedure The following v erification procedures assume you understand how to operate the ac source from the front panel as explained in chapter 4. Perform the following tests for operation verification in the order indicated. 1. Turn-On Check out 2.
Power Analy zer Voltage Measurement Accuracy This test verifies the accuracy of the Pow er Analyzer v oltage measurem ents. The Phase 2 annunciator on the left side of the display, m ust be on for the front panel to display Power Analy zer input measurem ents.
Calibration Procedure Table B-1 lists the equipm ent required for calibration. Figure B- 1 shows the test setup. T he following procedures assume y ou understand how to operate front panel keys (see chapter 4). WARNING LETHAL VOLTAGES . Ac sources can supply 425 V peak at their output.
Calibrating and Entering Power Analy zer Voltage Calibration Values Action Display 4. Con nect an Ag ilent 3458A DVM (i n syn chronous ac v olts mode) t o the ac source output terminals. Short the Power Analy zer voltage terminals (V SENSE) to ensure n o dc offset error.
