1 Disconnect the power cord. 2 Rem ove th e ou ter c over from t he Agil ent 34970A. To rem ove the co ver f rom the instru ment , follow the proc edures show n in ch apte r 6 o f the 34970A Service Guide . 3 Con nect the in ternal DMM ribbon c able to the main circuit board.
4 Install t he inte rnal DMM ci rcuit boar d into th e chassi s. Position the internal DMM c ircuit bo ard i nside the ins trum ent chas sis by tilting it at an angle as shown belo w. Be sure to pos ition the circuit board over the tabs in the chassis as sh own.
6 Twi st th e int erna l DMM inp ut ca ble. Twist the internal DM M input cable (labeled P101 ) at leas t one full turn before plu gging it into the backplane connec tor. If you do not tw ist the cable as shown, certain specifications will be compromised.
9 Mod ify the L abe ling on th e Rea r Pan el. If you originally ordered the 34970A without th e internal DMM, a so lid black circle should be visible above the rear-panel “O pt. 001” label. After installing the internal DMM retrofit kit, be s ure to draw an “ X ” through the black circle using a permanent marker as sh own below.
