6 GETTING ST ARTED Attaching the Wrist Strap Please attach the wrist strap to prevent dropping the camera. Charging Rechargeable Batteries NOTE! : The supplied rechargeable Ni-MH batteries are not charged when you receive them. Charge them before loading into the camera.

8 GETTING ST ARTED Loading the Batteries The camera can use 2x AA alkaline, lithium or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries to operate. 1. Open the Battery/Memory Card door . (fig.1.1) • Press the Battery/Memory Card door , slide the door down and lift it open.
9 GETTING ST ARTED Internal Memory/Inserting the Memory Card Internal Memory The camera is equipped with 16MB of internal memory , which can be used right away .
10 GETTING ST ARTED TURNING THE CAMERA ON AND OFF The On/Off Switch is located in the front of the camera. 1. Slide the On/Off Switch down to power the camera on. (fig.1.1) • The lens cover will open. • The LCD will turn on automatically 2. T o turn the camera off, slide the On/Off Switch upwards.
11 GETTING ST ARTED Setting the Date 1. Press the joystick to highlight the month, day or year. • The selection will blink when it is highlighted. 2. Press the joystick to change the number in the blinking position until you reach the desired setting.

13 T AKING PICTURES T AKING A PICTURE WITH THE VIEWFINDER T aking a picture with the viewfinder: 1. Turn the camera on. 2. Set the camera to ( ) Camera Mode. • The LCD can be switched off to conserve battery power by pressing the ( ) button. 3. Frame the subject in the viewfinder.
T AKING PICTURES T AKING A PICTURE WITH THE LCD T aking a picture with the LCD: 1. Set the camera to ( ) camera mode. 2. Frame the subject in the LCD. 3. Press the shutter button half-way to activate the auto-focus lock until the green AF LED stops blinking.
15 T AKING PICTURES SETTING THE FLASH How to set the flash: 1. Press the Flash button next to the LCD repeatedly until the desired mode appears on the LCD. Flash Mode Description Auto Flash The camera judges if a flash is required. If the environment is too dark, the flash will fire.
16 T AKING PICTURES T AKING A PICTURE WITH DIGIT AL ZOOM The 4x digital zoom combined with the 3x optical zoom can give up to 12x magnification to your pictures. How to use digital zoom: 1. At the maximum optical zoom level, continue to press the joystick until the digital zoom is activated.

18 T AKING PICTURES USING THE MAIN MENU IN CAMERA MODE Follow the steps below to set the advanced shooting options in the camera through the Main Menu. Using the ( ) Main Menu: 1. T urn the camera on. 2. Set the mode dial to ( ). 3. Press MENU to display the main menu.
19 T AKING PICTURES SELF-TIMER How to use self-timer: 1. In ( ) Camera Mode, press MENU to display the main menu. 2. Press the joystick to enter capture mode. 3. Press the joystick to highlight: ( ) Single Shot with Self-timer ( ) Continuous Shot with Self-timer OR ( ) Self-timer with Macro 4.
20 T AKING PICTURES MACRO MODE This mode enables the camera to capture pictures in close distances. Setting Macro Mode: 1. In the ( ) main menu. Press the joystick to enter the capture mode submenu. 2. Press the joystick to highlight: ( ) Single shot with Macro ( ) Continuous shot with Macro OR ( ) Self-timer with Macro 3.
21 T AKING PICTURES CONTINUOUS SHOOTING This feature enables the camera to capture a continuous series of pictures while the shutter button is pressed down. Using Continuous shooting: 1. In the ( ) Main Menu, press the joystick to enter the Capture Mode submenu.
IMAGE RESOLUTION Image Resolution determines the size of a captured image. Higher resolution images contain more details and have larger file sizes. How to change the resolution: 1. When Resolution is highlighted in the ( ) Main Menu, press the joystick arrow to enter the ( ) Resolution submenu.
23 IMAGE QUALITY IMAGE QUALITY The Image Quality setting determines the amount of compression used to reduce the size of the stored image file in order to economize the space in the internal memory or memory card. JPEG Quality Compression Description Ratio Fine 4:1 Fine image quality can be used for printing images.
24 WHITE BALANCE WHITE BALANCE By default the camera uses Auto White Balance to best reproduce colors under different lighting conditions. For mixed lighting conditions you can use the Auto White Balance. White Balance Mode Description Auto The camera will automatically choose the white balance setting.
25 EV COMPENSA TION EV COMPENSA TION The camera uses Auto Exposure to give you well exposed pictures under most conditions. If the main subject turned out too light or too dark, you can use the EV Compensation feature to improve the result.
26 SCENE SELECTION SCENE SELECTION The default options in the camera can be used in most settings. The scene modes are helpful to quickly optimize the various settings to best capture specific scenes. Preset Scene Description OFF No Scene Selection (default).
T AKING VIDEO CLIPS 27 T AKING VIDEO CLIPS The camera can capture video clips. Note: Video clips with audio feature is optional and it is available in some models only . T o record a video clip: 1. Slide the Mode Switch to ( ) Video Clip Mode. 2. Position the subject in the viewfinder or LCD screen.
REVIEWING YOUR FILES 28 REVIEWING YOUR FILES Using Review Mode In ( ) review mode, you can review your stored pictures and video clips through the LCD. Using REVIEW mode: 1. Slide the Mode Switch towards ( ) . In review mode, the sequence number and the total number of the still pictures and or video clips will be shown on the top right of the LCD.
29 REVIEWING YOUR FILES REVIEWING YOUR FILES Enlarging Stored Pictures How to enlarge: 1. In ( ) Review Mode, press the joystick or to scroll through the stored pictures and video clips. 2. While viewing a stored image (JPG), Press to use the " Enlargement" feature.

! REVIEWING YOUR FILES DELETING YOUR FILES Delete One Once a file is deleted, it cannot be recovered. 1. Set the Mode Dial to the Review Mode. 2. Press the joystick when Delete One is highlighted. 3. The next screen will display the stored pictures and video clips as thumbnails.

54 TV MODE TV MODE - VIEWING AND DELETING YOUR FILES ON TV The camera allows you to view individual files and record clips on the television. T o begin, check your television documentation to determine what video standard you should set your camera to either NTSC or P AL.

56 TROUBLESHOOTING TROUBLESHOOTING POSSIBLE CAUSE Batteries were not installed correctly Batteries are dead or weak Batter compartment door was not closed correctly The camera needs to be reset. The batteries are drained of power . The Auto time off setting is too short.
TROUBLESHOOTING 57 POSSIBLE CAUSE The subject is too far away for the flash to be affective. Flash is not on. The subject is in front of a bright light. Lighting condition is too dark. There was sufficient flash for the picture and the flash did not fire.
58 TROUBLESHOOTING POSSIBLE CAUSE The SD card is locked or write protected. Viewfinder is dirty . Viewfinder needs to be focused. Something was blocking the lens when taking the picture. The picture was not centered correctly in the viewfinder . The battery level is low and the camera does not have sufficient power to complete picture capture.
59 TROUBLESHOOTING POSSIBLE CAUSE The operating system may not be allocating adequate resources to download the pictures. The Mini-USB cable is not plugged into the camera. The Mini-USB cable is not plugged into the computer . The computer is not powered on.
