A1 How Y our Cobr a Pow er Inverter W orks T he Cobr a Po wer Inverter is an electronic prod- uct that has been designed and built to take low v oltage DC (Direct Current) po wer from your automobile or other low voltage po wer supplies and CONVERT it to standar d 115 V olt AC (Alternating Current) po wer like the current you have in y our home.

5 T esting T est Load P ower Minimum Cable Size 100 w # 16 A WG copper 250 w # 12 A WG copper 500 w # 8 A WG copper T he end of the cable that connects to the inv er t- er must have its insulation stripped off f or about 1/2 inch (1.25cm) back from the end , exposing the bare copper .
5. If a DC power supply is being used as the power sourc e, switch it On. T urn the ON/OFF switch on the inv er ter to the On position. Check the meters on the left side panel. The v oltage should indicate betw een 11 and 14 vo lts, depending on the voltage of the power sou rce.
9 Mounting Mount the inv er ter on a flat sur face placing the mounting bracket on the bottom. Mounting hardware should be corrosion r esistant and at least #10 or larger . The inverter can be mounted horizontally or vertically . C ables (included) Pow er wire and wiring is very important to the per formanc e of the inverter .
Ground Wiring T here is a screw on the rear panel labeled Chassis Ground . This is to c onnect the chassis of the inv er ter to ground . The ground terminal in the AC outlet on the right side panel of the inv er ter is c onnected to the chassis.
DC Wiring 1. Be sure the ON/OFF switch on the in verter is in the OFF position. 2. C onnec t the cables to the po wer input termi- nals on the rear panel of the inv er ter . The red te rminals are positive(+) and the black termi- nals are negative (-).
T he in ver ter will operat e most AC loads within its power ra ting. Some induction motors used in freez- ers, pumps, and other motor-operated equipment r equir e very high surge currents to start. The in ver t- er may not be able to start some of these motors even though their rat ed current draw is within the inv er ter ’ s limits.
