2 2. BounceBack Pre-Installation 1. Prerequisite soft ware plug- in BounceBack Ul timate requ ires that Microsoft .N ET Framework 4.0 b e install ed on the computer prior to launchin g the install ation of BounceBack Ulti mate. Windows XP , Vi sta, and 7 do not have Microsoft .
3 3. How To Install The Software From a CD (With AutoRun En abled) 1. Insert the Bounc eBack i nstallation CD in to the CD-ROM dri ve. 2. The Wind ows AutoPlay win dow will prompt y ou to make a s election. Sel ect SETUP.EXE. 3. Cli ck Yes to the User Account Contr ol Prompt (If UA C i s enabl ed on your computer).
4 4. Your First Backup Once the software i nstall ation is complete, th e BounceBack softwar e will begi n to configure your first backup. You hav e the choi ce to perform a Syst em Backup which i s recommended or a Data Backu p . Note: It is i mportant that you sav e your fil es and close th em prior to starti ng the backup.
5 Note: On l egacy operatin g systems such as Wi ndows XP, Vi sta, and Wi ndows 7 the BounceBack Ulti mate 14.2 software will install a FlashB oot driver on the USB ba ckup device that i s selected for a system bac kup.
6 Note: The wi ndow that p rompts you to cli ck on “ Cont inu e Anyway ” migh t appear behind the BounceBack wi ndow. A repres entation of how th e wi ndow might l ook like when it i s hidden behind BounceBack can be seen bel ow. The red arro w points to the window th at you need t o select.
7 After selecti ng the backup device of your choi ce, you will be taken to the Opt ions for Launch ing Backups scr een. You may enabl e On -Connection , Real-Time , or a Backup Sched ule from withi n this screen. BounceBa ck Ultimate h as a defaul t backup schedul e enabled when y ou perform a syst em backup for the first ti me.
8 BounceBack Ulti mate will then analyze your sourc e drive and veri fy that the backup wil l fi t on the bac kup device that you hav e selected . BounceBack will notify you if the backu p i s too large.
9 BounceBack Ulti mate will then partition an d format the backup devi ce before starti ng the back up. (Example) You will receive a progress i ndicator once the backu p has started. Y ou may also enabl e the shut down toggle i f you would li ke for BounceBack to powe r off your compute r once the backup i s complete.
10 BounceBack Ulti mate will present you with a backup completi on screen at the end. You may cl ose the BounceBack Ulti mate software aft er completi ng your backup. (Example) Performing a Dat a Backup Configuri ng your backup data backup i s easy. You wi ll first select the files or fol ders that you woul d like to backup from you r source drive.
11 Once you have sel ected whi ch files and folders you woul d like to backup, you wi ll th en have t o select the destinati on drive to backup your data to. (Example) The software i ncludes buil t-i n tool tips that can be ac cessed when you hov er your mouse ove r toggle buttons, confi guration buttons, and th e help bu tton.
12 Now that you have configured your backup j ob you may l aunch your fi rst backup. Thi s can be accompli shed by clicking on the Backup Now but ton found at the bottom of the window. (Example) You will receive a completi on screen once th e first backup has fini shed.
13 5. Additional Features How to access BounceBa ck Ultimate If you would like to perform furthe r adjustment s to your backup c onfiguration or even pe rform an incremental backup, you may do so by accessi ng BounceBack Ul timat e via the Backup Moni tor i con found in the Wi ndows System Tray.
14 Launching an Incremental Ba ckup You can perform an i ncremental backup of an exi sting backup job by hoverin g your mouse over the Launch a Backup menu found in th e Backup Monitor. Doi ng this will present you wit h a list of the backup jobs that you have c reated.
15 The Backup Job Man ager window wi ll open once you have clicked on th e View Backu p Job Manag er menu button i n the Backup Moni tor. (Example) Features that a re accessible vi a the Backu p Job Manager The Backup Job Man ager presents you wi th access to the fol lowi ng features: Adding, Edi ting, or Rem oving a backup job .
16 View Backup Pe rformance You can view a b rief backup repo rt directly from the Backup Moni tor. You can acce ss this i nformati on by selecting the View Backup P erform ance menu bu tton wi thin the Backup Moni tor.
17 View Backup Opti ons The Backup Opti ons menu in BounceBack Ulti mate 14.2 presents us ers wit h access to a new feat ure that can be utili zed to the create or del ete a short cut to the backup d evice that is added to the startu p menu in Windows.
18 Performing a Sy stem Backu p to a Smaller Drive We normall y recommend performi ng a full system backup to a hard dri ve that is th e same size as your computer’s hard dri ve. Or even to a large r backup hard dri ve. How eve r, we are aware that the backup ne eds for every user a re unique.
19 You have the opti on to use the basi c or advanced fi le exclusi on utilit y. BounceBack will launch the basic file exclusi on utilit y by default. The basic fil e exclusion util ity will only allow you to excl ude the enti re contents found i n folders that have a large amount of data.
20 6. Support Troubleshooting Tips In the event that the Backup Moni tor does not au tomaticall y launch on startup , you may manual ly lau nch it by runni ng the Launch Backu p Monitor shortcut f ound in th e BounceBack Ul timate contai ner within All Programs.
21 Uninstalling Bounce Back Ultimate Prior to uni nstallin g BounceBack we recommend that you close al l BounceBack Ulti mate wi ndows that might be open. BounceBack Ul timate can be un install ed via the Progr ams and Feat ures secti on i n Control Panel for Windows Vi sta, Win dows 7 and Windows 8 & 8.
