Additional Requirements • The Cisco Aironet 340 Series Cl ient Radio Card must cont ain firmware version V4.02 or later to communi cate with the b ase station using t he Base Statio n Client Utility .
2 Connect and Power Up the Base Station The base station pro vides data communicat ions by using one of the follow ing network connections: • Built-in 56K modem using a di al-up connection • Cable or DSL mo dem (default setting) • PPP over Ethernet • Access Point Caution Make sure the unit i s discon nected from the power source.
3 Connecting to a T elephone Line If the base station is configured to use the optional bu ilt-in teleph one modem, follow these steps: 1 Connect the end of the telephone cable with a ferrite bead (small cylinder) to the RJ-11 TELCO connector on the back of the ba se station.
4 Configure the Base Station The base station uses an IP address settin g of 192.168.2 00.1 for the inter nal network when configured for cab le or DSL modem, PPP-over -Ethernet, or telephone di al-up. It also uses this IP address when in Access Point mode with no other IP address being received from the DHCP server .

6 Configuring the Base Station with BSCU After a wireless PC is configured, configure the base station using BSCU. These steps are appropriate if you are usin g the cable or DSL modem or a telephone dial-u p (modem) configuratio n method.
7 Cable or DSL Modem Configuration The base station uses its IP addr ess of 192.168.200. 1 on the wireless netwo rk. 1 Select the Use Cable or DSL Modem for Internet Connection check box and click Next . The cable or DSL modem selection is t he default configurati on method.
8 5 Enter the domain name at the Domain Name field in the format ispname.net . 6 Select T one Dialing or Pulse Dialing . This defines how the modem will dial telep hone numbers on your teleph one system. Note The modem is not equipped with a sp eaker so you will not hear the base stati on dialing.
