2 1 Cisco One-Year Limited Hardware Warranty Terms There are special terms app licable to your hardware warranty and v arious services that you can use during t he warranty period. 4 4 Install the Router Follow these steps to insta ll the router . Connect the Router to the Local Network Y ou need to provide a straig ht-through Ethernet cable for conn ecting the router to the loca l Ethernet network.
5 Install the WAN Interface Card(s) Look for a W AN interface ca rd in one or both of the two slots on the rear of the router . If a card is already instal led, connec t it to the W AN line according to the <Emphasis>Cisco W AN Interfac e Cards Hardware Installation Guide that came with the card.
6 Connect a PC to the Router T o use C isco IOS software to configure the router , it must be connected to a terminal or to a PC with terminal-emu lation software. T erminal emulation software should be configured with th e following settings: 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity bits, and 1 stop bit.
7 Connect the Power Supply Connect the router to the power supply as shown below . Step 1 Connect the attached power -supply cord to the power socket (labeled +5, +12, -12 VDC) on the router rear panel. Step 2 Connect the separate power cord to the power socket on the power supply .
