2 1 About this Guide This guide provides instructions on how to install and configur e your Cisco Metro Ethernet (ME) 3400E Ethernet Access switch. Also covered are switch management options, basic rack-mounting procedures, port and module connections, power connection procedures, and troubleshooting help.

8 4 Managing the Switch through the CLI After you install the switch in your netwo rk, you can enter Cisco IOS commands and parameters through the CLI. Access the CLI either by connecting your P C directly to the switch co nsole port or through a T elnet session from a remote PC or workstation.
9 The Cisco IE2100 Series Configuration Registrar is a networ k manage ment device that wo rks with embedded CNS agents in the switch software. 12 6 Connecting to the Switch Ports This section describes how to connect to the fixed switch po rts and to the SF P module ports. Th e switch in the ill ustrations might be different from your switch, but the inst ructions apply to all Cisco M E 3400E switches.
