3 A TI’ s Catalyst ™ Software Suite Multiple Displays and 3D Gaming Experience A TI’ s Catalyst Software Suite provides multiple display functionality fo r those computers with support for more than one installed monitor , and the adv anced graphic features, such as SMAR TSHADER, for the ultimate 3D gaming experience.
4 HydraVision™ (Optional) In addition to the multiple display functionality av ailable with A TI’ s Catalyst Software Suite for those computers with s upport for more than one installed monitor , you can also use HydraV ision™ for adv anced multi-monitor management.
5 Connecting Y our Monitor The RADEON 9200 FSC Series provides hardw a re support for one V GA monitor . It also provides TV Output via a S-V ideo out or a Composite out connector . Plug the monitor cable into y our card then turn on the PC and monitor(s) .
6 Displa y Configurations The follo wing table lists the dif ferent ways you can connect displays to your card. 7 Catal yst™ Software Suite The follo wing section provides an e xplanation of each A TI tab a v ailable after installing the Catalyst Software Suite. A TI Displays T ab The A TI Displays tab provides the mu lti monitor features for those comput ers with support for more than one installed monitor .
8 Enabling/Disabling Secondar y Displa ys (optional) 1 Access the W indo ws ® Contr ol Panel . Double- click Display . 2 Click on the Settings tab and then the Advanced... b utton. 3 Click on the A TI Displays tab. 4 Click the enable/disable button for the display de vice you want to enable/disable.
9 T o enable Extended Desktop Mode, refer to the section Enabling Extended Desktop Mode (optional) . 1 Access the W indo ws ® Contr ol Panel . Double- click Display . 2 Click on the Settings tab and then the Advanced... b utton. 3 Click on the A TI Displays tab.
10 AT I C o l o r T a b The A TI Color tab is used to adjust the color settings. Y ou can change the red, green and blue display colors. Desktop bright ness and Game Gamma (brightness) can also be changed. A TI Color T ab Desktop Brightness This increases or decreases the brightne ss of your desktop .
11 Clicking the Game Gamma b utton accesses the Game Gamma Properties. Game Gamma Properties Red Green Blue sliders These controls allow you to increase or decrease the color bri ghtness of Direct 3D ® and OpenGL ® games play ed in fullscre en mode.
12 AT I O p t i o n s Ta b The A TI Options tab provides detailed dri ver information and access to the card’ s specifications. Y ou can also enable or di sable the A TI taskbar icon. A TI Options T ab V ersion Information Provides the Catalyst v ersio n number , 2D version number and the driver build inf or mation.
13 Clicking the Details button pro vides access to the Details tab . Disable quick resolution feature Quick resolution f eature is accessible b y left- clicking the A TI icon in the system tra y .
14 A TI Overlay T ab The A TI Overlay tab allo ws you to configure the brightness, contrast, sat uration, hue and gamma properties of your video ov erlay . Video Overlay V ideo overlay allo ws for th e vie wing of full-motion video on your PC. Ho we ver , there is only one video ov erlay , which is only av ailable on the Primary display .
15 Clone Mode Settings A TI Overlay T ab Brightness Use this slider to adjust the br ightness of the video image. Contrast Use this slider to adjust the contrast in the video image. Saturation Use this slider to adjust the vividness of the color. Sliding it all the wa y to the left removes all color and produces a black and white picture.
16 Full Screen Video The source video is scaled so that your display is showing full screen. Note: if the source video contains horizontal black bars , as do some D VD movies, the full screen video will also contain black bars.
17 OpenGL ® Contr ol P anel Using this tab, gamers can fine-tune the settings for OpenGL ® games. Main and Custom Settings In the Main Settings you can maximize o verall performance by mo ving the slider to the left, or you can enhance ov erall image quality by moving the slider to the right.
18 Main Settin gs slider This allows you to emphasize what kind of application e x perience you’ d like to hav e. Moving the slider to the left will maximize application performance, while moving the slider to the right will provide e xcellen t 3D image quality .
19 T exture Preference slider Selecting this decides whether your application should use high quality or high performance textures. Mo ving the slider to the right deli vers the highest quality e xperience. Moving the slider to the left emphasizes a high performance solution while sti ll providing good visuals.
20 OpenGL ® Compatibility Settings Force Z-b uffer depth This allows you to e xplicitly set the Z-Buffer depth. Most applications will work best wh en Disabled is selected Alpha dithering method When applications use both dither ing and alpha blending, visual artifacts can occur .

22 Direct 3D ® Contr ol P anel Using this tab, gamers can fine-tune the settings for Direct 3D ® games. Main and Custom Settings In the Main Settings you can maximize o verall performance by mo ving the slider to the left, or you can enhance ov erall image quality by moving the slider to the right.

25 Direct 3D ® Compatibility Settings Support W - buf f er This will enable W-Buff er suppor t f or 3D games. It is recommended to disable this for games that do not suppor t th is f eature. Cer t ain applicatio ns require the increased precision of W -Buffering and will e xhibit ar tifacts unless the W -Buffer is enab led.
26 Support DXT te xture formats Enabling this allows applications to use this kind of texture f or mat. There are a fe w app lications that can only suppor t a limite d number of te xture formats. By selecting Disabled , the dr iver will not suppor t DXT texture f or mats, thus reducing the number of te xture f or mats suppor te d.
27 Using TV Out View y our PC’ s display on a TV The RADEON 9200 FSC Series has TV Out capability . Y ou can attach your card to a TV and monitor at the same time. Or you can connect it to your VCR and record your monitor’ s display . TV display is ideal for playing games, gi ving presentations, watching mo vies, and browsing the Internet.
28 Connecting to a TV or a VCR T o connect your card to a TV or a VCR, use the av ailable TV Output connector . Y our card will support either a S-video connector or a Composite connector . If your TV has cable input only , you can connect your card to your TV through your VCR or an RF modulator (av ailab le in most electronics stores).

30 Star ting Windows ® with TV Displa y Enabled The TV screen may become scrambled during the initial W indows ® logo display . This is only a temporary ef fect and your screen will be restored within a fe w seconds. During start up, your card will go through a sequence of mode settings, during wh ich your TV display will remain blank.
31 The SCAR T connector suppor ts only the Composite video format, which means you will hav e to use a S-V ideo-to-Composite video adapter cable if your card only supports the S-V ideo connector .
32 Using a Monitor vs. Using the TV Display Using your TV for your PC’ s display is ideal for playing games, gi ving presentations, watching movies, and bro wsing the Internet. Howe ver , the display on your monitor may change or looked squashed. This occurs because the display adjusts to f it the dimensions of your TV .
33 Viewing T ext on a TV A TV is designed primarily to sho w moving, rather than static, images. The large dot pitch of a TV (which is fine for mo ving video) will yield poor quality static images such as text. The small text sizes commonly used for PC desktops can appear blurred or unclear on a TV .
34 4 Click on the TV button. 5 Click the Adjustments tab . 6 In the Screen Size section , click on the plus ( + ) button beside the horizontal arro wheads to increase the horizontal si ze of the TV display . 7 Click OK or A pply to save the changes you ha ve made.
35 Changing Display Configurations If you mov e your PC to a place where you are using TV display only , make sure that you ha ve the TV display feature enabled. Y ou can set your displa y resolution as high as 1024x768. Ho we ver , higher resolu tions will result in a virtual desktop.

37 Connect to a TV , VCR, or Camcor der f or video capturing Some versions of th e RADEON 9200 FSC Series hav e video capturing capabilities from your camcorder , VCR, or TV . Use your fa vorite video editing application to add ef fects, make edits, or stream your video on the internet.
38 Window s ® V olume Contr ol For correct audio performance, your sound card’ s line input must be acti ve. T o display the Line Input setting in the W indows ® V olume Control panel: 1 Right-click the speaker icon in the T askbar (usually in the lo wer-right corner of your screen).
39 4 Click the Line-In volume control checkbox, then click OK . If the Mute checkbox is checked, click it to cancel muting. If the v olume icon is not in your T askbar , do the f ollowing: • Click Start , the n click Contr o l P anel . • Doub le-clic k Sounds and A udio Devices .
40 Capturing video using Window s ® Movie Maker T o capture video with W i ndo ws ® Movie Maker: 1 Click Start then All Pr ograms then Accessories then Windo ws ® Movie Maker . 2 Click the Record button to open the Record dialog. 3 Select Record both to record video and audio.
