CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 7 Quick Start The steps below provide a quick reference on how to setup and use a single loudspeaker. A typical setup will follow the same basic steps. STEP 1 Make sure the lou dspeaker is unplu gged. Be sure the mas te r switch is to set to the ‘OF F’ position.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 8 P1500X Mixer - Re ar Panel The P1500X powered loudspeaker has an assortment of mixer controls and con nections that cover several applications. It is suggested t o review the P1500X mixer, as listed b elow, to take full advantage of the pr oduct features.

The SIGNAL indicator is illuminated when there is an audio signal present with a level greater than -30dBu, approximat ely the lowes t level before a MUTE condition.

PROF ESSIONAL 11 P1800SX Mixer - R ear Panel The P1800SX powered subwoofer features an assortment of controls and connections similar to the P1500X but unique to the needs of this sub woofer. It is sugges ted to review the P1800SX mixer, as listed bel ow, to take full ad vantage of th e product features.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 12 ( D ) L I N K O U T P U T This is a balanced XLR output that is the sum of the two input channels. This output is not affected by chang es to the Main Volume knob or the custom features. This connection is designed to provide an output which combines both channels together for connecting t o an additional P18 00SX.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 13 P1500X and P1800 SX Power Conne ctions - Rear P anel The P1500X and P1800SX po wer connections are located o n the rear panel. It is suggested to understand the power connections and descrip tions below t o insure proper use.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 14 Using the P1500X as a floor/stage monitor The P1500X can be used as a floor monitor by laying the cabinet on its side at a fixed 45 degree angle toward the performers.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 15 Using the pole mount The P1500X has two different pole mounting angles: l evel and 7.5 degrees down. This allows the loudspeaker to be adju st ed to an angle that provides optimal audien ce coverage. For example, a loudspeaker placed o n a raised stage platform m ay have the pole mount adjusted to 7.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 16 Using the suspen sion points The P1500X suspension points are M10 threads with a depth of 25mm. Two suspension points are located o n each handle (top for vertical orientation and on the side for horizontal o rientati on) as well as two pull -back points located on the rear of the unit.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 17 Application #1 – Single P15 00X A single P1500X power ed speaker can be u sed to reinf orce sound for a wide varie ty of performances. The di agram below shows an application where a vocal microphone, an acoustic-electric guitar and either a keyboard or media player are used together.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 18 Application #2 – Adding a second P1 500X A second P1500X loudspeaker can easily be added using a standard XLR/mic cable as in the example below. A two speaker syste m can cover a wider audience and situations where more volume is needed.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 19 Application #3 – Adding Subwoofer s For demanding applications where even greater bass response is ideal, adding subwoofers to a pair of P 1500X speaker s is a great idea.

PROF ESSIONAL 20 Application #3 – Adding Subwoofer s (Adjusting HPF & LPF Filt ers continued) When using the P1500X and P1800SX together it is important to know how to set the HIGH PASS FILTER switch o n the P1500X and the HPF THRU & LPF SUB switch on the P1800SX so that both speakers work well together.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 21 Application #4 – Daisy-Chain Some events m ay require several P1500X speakers spread across a long distance o r a larg e stage front to provide adequate sound reinforcement for the entire audien ce.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 22 Application #5 – Adding a P1500 X as a Stage Monito r In a live performance, the performer may wish to have a stage monitor to help hear the perfor mance better. The diagram below shows a P1500X used as a stage mo nit or for the performer plus two P1500X speakers (daisy-chained) for the audience.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 23 Application #6 – Large Venue/Front of House In larger venues the Front of House engineer has control of the entire sound reinforcement system using the console mixer.
CERWIN-VEGA! PROF ESSIONAL 24 Protective Grill The P1500X and P1800SX are shipped with the grill attached. It is recommended to leave the grill in place as it will prevent any accidental damage to the dri vers that m ay result during tran sportation, setup and general use .
