6 Projector Overview This section describes the f eatures of the projector , and explains the functions of the projector and remote controller keys. XJ-H1600/XJ-H1650/XJ -H1700/XJ-H1750 /XJ-ST145/XJ-ST155 z Mercury-free Hybrid Light Source: A CASIO-origin al laser and LE D hybrid lig ht source delivers high luminance from 2500 to 4000 lumens.
7 XJ-H1650/XJ-H1750/XJ -ST145/XJ-ST155 z Projection of Data from U SB Memory or a Memory Card witho ut a Computer: USB memory or a memory card (using a commercia lly available USB card read er) can be connected directly to the projector ’s USB-A port.
8 Operations in this manual ar e presented based on th e re mote controller tha t comes with the projecto r. Major operation ke ys are also provi ded on the projector uni t, so the most of the same proc edures can also be perfor med directly on the projector.

10 Operation During Projection Turning on the projector initially causes the same i n put source that was select ed the last time it was turned off to be selected. To select a different input source 1. Press the [INPUT] key. z This displays the input sour ce selection screen.
11 3D Input Mode Your projector supports projection of 3D imag es. To project a 3D image, f irst enter the projector’s 3D input mode, and then select the input source. Important! z Separately available 3D glasses (YA-G30) are required in orde r to view a projected 3D image in 3D.
12 Returning to the Normal Input Mode from the 3D Inpu t Mode 1. Press the [INPUT] key to display the input source selection screen. 2. Use the [ T ] and [ S ] keys to move the h ighlighting to “To normal input mode” and then press the [ENTER] key.

14 Selecting the Color Mode You can select fr om among various dif ferent color mode s ettings in accor dance with image conten ts and projection conditions.
15 Momentarily Cutting Off the Input Source Image 1. Press the [BLANK] key. z This temporarily cuts off the image from the input source and projec ts a black screen in its place. 2. To resume projection of the image from the input source, press the [BLANK] key (or [ESC] key).
16 Displaying a Pointer in the Projected Image You can select from among different pointer styles, including variou s arrow styles, for dis play in the projected imag e. Pointers can be u sed during a presenta tion to indicate or highlight a speci fic part of the image.
17 Changing the aspect rati o of the projected image Press the [AS PECT] key to cy cl e through the aspect ratio se ttings for the projected image. Available se ttings are as shown below. For detail s about the meaning of each setting, see the “A spect Ratio” setting under “Scr een Settings Main Menu” on page 32.
18 You can use the re mote controller ke ys to adjust the volume level of the audio that is output from the projector’s speaker. To adjust the volume level 1. Press the [VOLUME] key. z This causes the [Vo lume] screen to appe ar on the projected im age.
19 The following three E co Mode settings are avail able to specify whether prio rity should be given to low-power, low-noise opera tion or to projectio n brightness. Important! z While “On (Auto)” is selected a s the Eco Mode setting, make sure that the brightness sensor on the top of the projector is not blocked by anything.
20 Important! z The Eco Mode setting automati cally changes to “Off” wheneve r the projector is in the 3D input mode (“3D Input Mode”, page 11) or “On” is selected for the “Option Setting s 2 J Interactive Pointer” setting.
21 Configuring Advanced Projector Settings Your projector has a setup menu that you can use to co nfigure advanced settings. Displaying the Setup Menu Pressing the [MENU] key displays the me nu shown below in the ce nter of the projecti on screen. To exit the setup menu Press the [MENU] key.
22 Basic Setup Menu Example The procedure below shows how to c onfigure the foll owing three settings: z Image Adjustment 1 J Contrast z Image Adjustment 1 J Color Mode z Input Settings J Signal Name .
23 To configure the “Image Adjustme nt 1 J Color Mode” setting 5. Use the [ T ] key to select “Color Mode”. 6. Press the [ENTER] key. z This displays the colo r mode menu. 7. Use the [ T ] and [ S ] keys to select the color mode you want, and then press the [ENTER] key.
24 The password featur e lets you keep unauthorized individuals from us ing the projec tor. You ca n specify whether password input is requir ed whenever you turn on the projec tor, and you can specify and change the password as re quired.
25 Keep a written record of your password ! You will not be able to use the proj ector if you forget its password. We strongly sug gest that you keep a written or other type of record of the password so yo u can look it up when nec essary. To change the passwor d 1.
26 To turn password protection on and of f 1. Display the Power On Password settin g screen by performing steps 1 through 5 of the procedure under “To chan ge the pass word” on page 25. z At this time, make sure that “Power On Pass word” is selected on the Po wer On Password setting screen.
27 You can use the procedures in this section to restore all of the settings on a pa rticular main menu or all of the settings on the setup menu to their initial factory defaults. To restore all settings on a particular main menu to their initial factory defaults 1.
28 To restore all settings on the setup menu to their initial factory defaults 1. Press the [MENU] key to display the setup menu. 2. Use the [ T ] key to select “Restore All Defaul ts” and then press the [ENTER] key. 3. After confirming that “Restore All Defa ults” sub-menu is selected, press the [ENTER] key.

30 Color Mode RC VH DU Source Specific You can select from among vario us different color mode set tings in accordance with image contents and project ion conditions. Standard: Use this setting when you want to highlight the colors of your presentation.

On: Select this setting when using the projector in a high altitude (1,500 to 3,000 met ers above sea le vel) area where a ir is thin.
38 Wired LAN Settings Main Menu (USB Port Models Only ) USB Settings Main Menu (USB Port Models Only) The USB Settings main me nu is available only when ther e is an external device connected to the USB-A port of the projector. For detai ls, see “USB Function Guide” and “Wirel ess Function Guide” on the bundled CD-ROM.

40 Cleaning the Projector Periodical ly clean the pr ojector exteri or, lens, inta ke vents, and intake-exhaust ve nts on a regular basis. Important! Before cleaning the projector, be sure to unplug it from the powe r outlet and make sure it is cooled down completely.
41 Error Indicators and Warning Messages Warning messa ges and indicator s let you know what the problem is when a projector error occurs. When an error occur s, wait until the fan stops before unpluggi ng the AC power cord.
42 POWER : Green stea dy A system problem has occurred, which may cause problems with s ome functions. Turn off the proj ector, disconne ct the power cor d from the projector and wait for all of the proje ctor’s indicators to go out. Next, reconnect the power cord and tur n the projector back on.
43 POWER : Amber flashin g J Red steady Power has turned off automatically because the light source unit cove r is open. Perform the following steps. 1 After confirming th at the POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit red (without flashing), disco nnect the power cord f rom the proj ector.
44 Appendix The projector is abl e to project images f rom the composite video output, S -video output, or component video output of a connected video device .
45 Connection to a com ponent video output z Component video output terminals co me in 3-terminal sets: Y·Cb·Cr or Y ·Pb·Pr. Be sure to match the colors of the plugs on a comp onent video ca ble with the colo rs of the terminals (Green: Y; Blue: Cb/Pb; Red: Cr/Pr).
46 The projector supports proj ection and output of HDMI video an d audio output from a computer or video device. Important! Turn off the proj ector and the comp uter or video de vi ce before connecting them.
47 When performi ng an operation on the remote contro ller, point it at the re mote control sig nal receiver on the back or f ront of the projector . The following illustration sh ows the rang e of the remote controller signal.
48 The projector can be hung from a ce iling. When doing so, the projecto r should be turned upside down, and secured to the ceiling. Yo u also need to install a safety wir e to ensure that the projecto r cannot fall accidentally. T o attach th e safety wire, remove the sticker on the bottom of the projector and attach the wire there.
