First Stage Override — If the current capacity s tage is zero, the control will modify the routine with a 1.2 factor on adding the first stage to reduce cycling. This factor is also applied when the control is attempting to remove the last stage of capacity .
Ramp Loading — Ramp loading ( Configura- tion SLCT CRMP ) limits the rate of change of leaving fluid temperature. If the unit is in a Cooling mode and config- ured for Ramp Loading, the control makes 2 comparisons be- fore deciding to change stages of capacity .
may be entered for systems with brine solutions, but this value should be set according to the freeze pro tection level of the brine mixture. Failure to properly set this brine freeze point val- ue may permanently damage the brazed plate heat exch anger .

Under normal operation, the ch iller will maintain a constant leaving fluid temperature approximately equal to the chilled fluid set point. As the cooler load varies, the entering cooler fluid will change in proportion to the load as shown in Fig. 17.

Check all auxiliary components, such as chilled fluid pumps, air -handling equipment, condenser pump or other equipment to which the chiller supplies liquid.
ST A R T -UP AND OPE RA TION Compressor crankcase heaters must be on for 24 hours be- fore start-up. T o energize the crankcase hea ters, close the field disconnect. Leave the compressor circuit breakers off/open. The crankcase heaters are now ener gized.
LI Q U ID C HA R GI N G ME T H OD — Add charge to the unit through the liquid line service valve. Never charge liquid into the low-pressur e side of the system . 1. Close liquid line ball valve (30MP A only). 2. Connect a refrigerant cylinder loosely to the high flow Schraeder valve connection on the liquid line.
This voltage imbalance is satisfactory as it is below the maximum allowable of 2%. Control Circuit Power — Power for the control circuit is supplied from the main incoming power through a factory- installed control power transformer (TRAN1) for all models.
The strainers in front of the water/brine inlets of the heat exchangers should be cleaned periodically , depending on con- dition of the chiller water/brine. Oil Charge Puron refrigerant systems use a polyol ester (POE) oil. Use only Carrier approved compressor oil.
MI N IM U M L O A D V AL V E — On units equipped with the factory-installed hot gas bypass option, a solenoid valve and discharge bypass valve (minimum load valve) are located between the dischar ge line and th e cooler entering-refrigerant line.
gauge. Pressure readings should be within ± 15 psig. If the two readings are not reasonabl y close, replace the pressure transducer . Chilled W ater Flo w Switch — A factory-installed flow switch is installed in the leaving fluid piping for all units.

6. Reinstall all module connect ors. For accessory Naviga- tor™ device replacement, make sure the plug is installed at TB3 in the LEN connector . 7. Carefully check all wiring connections before restoring power . 8. V erify the ENABLE/OFF/REMOTE CONT ACT switch is in the OFF position.
T o manually reset ASTP , the compressor should be stopped and allowed to cool. If the comp ressor is not stopped, the motor will run until the motor protector trips, which occurs up to 90 minutes later . Advanced scroll temperature protection will reset automatically before the motor protector resets, which may take up to 2 hours.

been commanded OFF . This is done to facilitate a service tech- nician forcing a relay to test a compressor . In addition, if a compressor st uck failure occurs and the cur - rent sensor board reports the compressor and the request off, certain diagnostics will take place as follows: 1.
This is done to make a rough calibration of the high pres- sure switch trip point. In most cases this allows the control to detect a high head pressure co ndition prior to reaching the high pressure switch trip point. When the trip occurs, all mechanical cooling on the circuit is shut down for 15 minutes.
