Product Information 1 PCS and PCS2 P ower Current Sensor s Pr oduct Inf ormation The Po wer Current Sensors (PCS) and Dual Po w er Current Sensors (PCS2) provide po wer current status for AMX equipment. Exam ples of such equipment are video projectors, moni tors, audio recei vers, and VCRs.
Product Information 2 PCS and PCS2 P ower Current Sensors.
Installation 3 PCS and PCS2 P ower Current Sensor s Installation The PCS requires +12 VDC (+11 VDC to +17 VDC @ 20 mA minim um) for operation; the PCS2 is simply plu gged into a 120 V A C three-hole wall outlet t o obtain power . PCS and PCS2 Installation 1.
Installation 4 PCS and PCS2 P ower Current Sensors Preparing cap tive wires Y ou will need a wire stripper and flat-blade scre wdriv er to prepare and c onnect the capti ve wires.
Installation 5 PCS and PCS2 P ower Current Sensor s PCS2 to AXC-INP8 Connect the PCS2 output por ts to the AXC-INP8 input ports, as illust rated in FIG. 2. Follo w the illustration for Input 1 thr ough Input 8. Set the jumpers of the associated inputs on the AXC- INP8 to Switch mode.
Installation 6 PCS and PCS2 P ower Current Sensors PCS to T elevision Contr ollers FIG. 5 illustrates th e connections required for th e PCS to television controllers. PCS2 to T elevision C ontrollers FIG. 6 illustrates th e connections between the PCS2 to television controllers.
Calibration 7 PCS and PCS2 P ower Current Sensor s Calibration The PCS and PCS2 work by setting a threshold. The ST ANDBY threshold is set be-tween the current draw of the O FF state and that of the ST ANDBY st ate. The ON threshold is then set between the current draw of the ST ANDBY state and the ON state.
Calibration 8 PCS and PCS2 P ower Current Sensors If the unit has both ST ANDBY and ON states, follow these steps: 1. T urn the ST ANDBY and ON potentiom eters (PO Ts) clockwise until they stop. 2. Plug the PCS into an outlet and plug the unit (the device you are monitoring) into the PCS.
Calibration 9 PCS and PCS2 P ower Current Sensor s PCS2 Calibration When extreme accurac y is required for calibration, allow the PCS2 to warm up for a minimum of 15 minutes before calibration. The following procedures are used for both circuit 1 and circuit 2.
Calibration 10 PCS and PCS2 P ower Current Sensors.
Operation and Programming 11 PCS and PCS2 P ower Current Sensor s Operation and Pr ogramming PCS Operation When properly calibrated, the PCS senses current le ve ls from sources that have one or two le vels of power consumption.
Operation and Programming 12 PCS and PCS2 P ower Current Sensors ! A one- or two-second delay . ! V erification of status changes. During transitions between states, the PCS may ta ke 1 to 2 seconds to stabilize and its output indication may be incorrect.
