Prod uct Inf ormatio n 1 I R Sensors and Receivers Pr oduct Inf ormation The AMX infrared ( IR) sensors and recei vers ( AXD-IR+, AXR-IRSM+, IRX-DM+, and IRX- SM+) work with AMX IR-format 38 or 455 kHz wirel ess transmitters .
Prod uct Infor mation 2 IR Sensors and Receivers The swi vel-mo unt units: ! Install on the ceilin g or wall, and can be positioned horizontally or vertically ! Swivel fo r best IR reception an d protection fro m fluorescent interference Specifications: Sensor s and Receivers AXD-IR+ FIG.
Prod uct Inf ormatio n 3 I R Sensors and Receivers The follo wing table lists the AX R-IRSM+ specifications. IRX-DM+ FIG. 4 show s the IRX-DM+ Decor IR sensor . The follo wing table lists the IRX-D M+ specifications. IRX- SM+ FIG. 5 sh o ws the I RX-SM+ swi v el-mount IR sens or .
Prod uct Infor mation 4 IR Sensors and Receivers The follo wing table lists the IR X-SM+ specifications:. Applications Use the sensors and receiv ers with AMX transmitters to control devices such as media equipment. Combine se v eral sensors and r ecei ver s for lar ge single-area co v erage or as discrete u nits for multiple room install ations.
Prod uct Inf ormatio n 5 I R Sensors and Receivers FIG. 7 illustrates an application us ing a recei ver , the AXD-IR+ (the application could also u se the AXR-IRSM+).

Wiring and Installatio n 7 I R Sensors and Receivers Wiring and Installation Before installing the sensors and recei v ers, set the recei v e frequenc y on the units. On the recei ver s, the AXD-IR+ and AXR-IRSM+, also set th e AXlink dev ice number and IR validation le vel.
Wiring and Installation 8 IR Sensors and Receivers ! T o recei ve 455 kHz, position the ju mper (both jump ers on the recei v ers ) on the left two pins, pins 1 and 2, a way from the edge o f the circuit boards, to recei ve 455 kHz. ( This is the default setting.
Wiring and Installatio n 9 I R Sensors and Receivers As an e xample, the DIP switch in FIG. 12 def ines de vice n umber 129 (1+12 8=129). If you later ch ange the de vice nu mber , remove and reconnect the AXlink connector . This enters the ne w de vice n umber into memor y .
Wiring and Installation 10 IR Sensors and Receivers Wiring the IR Sensors and Receiver s The IR Sensors and Recei v ers use a four -p in AXlink connector fo r po wer and da ta. If the distance between the panel and Central Controller exceeds po wer consumption limits, yo u can connect a local 12 VDC po wer supply to the AXlink connector .
Wiring and Installatio n 11 I R Sensors and Receivers the recei ver or senso r and the Central Contr oller . The maximum wiring lengths are based on a minimum of 13.
Wiring and Installation 12 IR Sensors and Receivers Use a 12 VDC po wer supply wh en the distance between the Central Controller and the sens ors or recei vers exceeds the limits described in the W iring Specifications table abov e. Make s ure to connect onl y the GND wir e on the AX link connecto r when usi ng a 12 VDC po wer supp ly .
Wiring and Installatio n 13 I R Sensors and Receivers If the LED is o n and not flashing, disconn ect the AXlink connector and recheck all AXlink connections. Afterw ard, reconnect the AXlink connector to the panel and verify the LED is flashing once per s econd.
Wiring and Installation 14 IR Sensors and Receivers Mounting the Swivel-Mount Sensor or Receiver FIG. 19 gi ves dimensions for the AXD-IRSM+ and IRX-SM+. T o install the AXD-IR+ or IRX-SM+: Mount the unit acco rding to FIG. 20 f or mounting th e unit flush to a flat surface without us ing the mountin g brack et ( Installation Method A ), or FIG.
Wiring and Installatio n 15 I R Sensors and Receivers Installation method B Use when installing a swivel-mount unit using the provided mounting bracket. ! On drywall, install usi ng the included wall anchors. Use a 3/16-inch drill bit. ! On wood, inst all u sing t he in clud ed #6 mou nti ng scr ews.
Wiring and Installation 16 IR Sensors and Receivers a. Co nnect the unit to AXlink data/po wer bus. b. Check the AXlink LED. (LED should blink o nce per secon d.). c. Replace the housing. 3. Check that the IR recei v er is on and is supplyin g po wer to the se nsor .
