1 Quick Inst all Lif t AL065 Installation Guide & Owners Manual Congratulations on your new lift purchase. The Quick Install Lift line is one of the easiest an d most trouble free ways to transport your scooter or power chair. This m anual is w ritten to be used b oth as an installa tion guide as well as an operation gu ide for th e end user.
2 Unp acking th e Lif t Check the contents of the box ag ainst the package check list to be sure that all parts are included w ith the lif t that are required for proper installation. If any parts are missing or if any damage is noted, immediately contact the distributor from which you purchased y our lift.
3 Inst al ling the V ehicle W iring Harness Important Note: IM PROPER WIRING IS THE #1 CAUSE OF PROBLEMS IN THE OPERATION OF A VEHICLE LIFT. FOLLOW THE WIRING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY Located in the hardware package is the vehicle wiring harness. The harness is manufactured to, and complies with the SAE J1128 requirem ents.
4 3. The Arm Assembly may be adjusted sideways (Fig. 1), inverted (Fig. 2), or switched to a driver side application ( Fig. 3). Fig. 1 Fig. 3 Fig. 2 5. Place the power frame on the to p of the post. Rotate the frame so that it dr ops down into the rotation limit collar at the top of the post.
5 7. The Rotation Limit Collars are attache d to the Post with 1/4-20 bolts. If you ne ed to adjust the height of the pow er frame, you may change the vertical position of the rotation limit collars along the post. To do so the post is equipped w ith a s eries of holes to accept the bolt f rom the rotation limit collars.
6 Hitch Sincher The purpose of the Hitch Sincher is t o prev ent vertical play in the trailer hitch. Attach th e two 5/8” diam eter steel rods together with the supplied 1/4-20 x 4” bolts and 1/4” nuts (Figure 1). Slip this assembly o ver the trailer hitch and attach it as shown in Fig ure 2.
7 Operation Instructions • Inspect the Lifting Stra p prior to each use. Contact your distributo r if it sho ws signs of w ear or f raying. • Do not oper ate this lift until you dealer has satisfac torily instructed you in the proper operat ion of this lif t.
8 • If preparations needed to be made to secure the scooter or chair for transpo rt, such as parking brakes or w heel chocks, do these now. Dealers should instruct operators on how, if necessary , to secure the scooter or c hair for transport. Close the trunk and y ou are ready to go .
9 SA FE TY : • Caution: Do not operate this lift until your dealer has satisfac torily instructed yo u in the prop er operation of the lift. • Your Harmar Lift has been eng ineered and designed for y ears of trouble f ree use. Although , with everyday use , some parts may become loose or worn.
10 TROUBLESHOOTING: PROBLEM : The lift will not operate or operates sl owly. Possible Causes : Bad Connection —Verify the vehicle w iring harness is tightly attached to t he battery and that there is no build up on the terminals. Battery —Check to see if th e batter y needs to be r eplaced or if the terminals are co rroded.
