2 TABLE OF CONTENTS FINDING MODEL NUMBER This Operator’s Manu al is an important part of your new tiller. It will help you assemble, prepare and maintain the unit fo r best performance.

4 4. Keep bystanders, helpers, pets, and child ren at least 75 feet from the ma chine while it is in operation. Stop th e machine if anyone enters the area. 5. Be careful when tilling in ha rd ground. The tines may catch in the ground and propel the tiller forward.

6 SECTION 3: ASSEMBLING YOUR TILLER IMPORT ANT: This unit is shipped WITHOUT GASOLINE or OIL. After as sembly, see separa te engine manua l for proper fuel and engin e oil recommendations. NOTE: Left and right is det ermined from t he operator’s position, st anding behind the tiller.
7 • Push the cable through the hole in the cente r of the handle and snap in t he plastic fitting. See Figure 3. Figure 3 • Remove slot head screw, nut and two flat washer s from the c lutch bail. • Fasten the th readed eyebolt onto bail as shown in Figure 4.
8 Now move the shift lever to FORWARD (Wheels Forward) positi on. Carefully engage the clutch by lifting the clutch control bail against th e handle. The wheels should spin.
9 SECTION 5: OPERATING YOUR TILLER NOTE: Engine is shipped without oil. WARNING: Use the r everse tine drive when tilling virgin grou nd, sod or hard soil. Use the forward t i ne drive when cu ltiva ting or tilling soft ground. Before Starting • Service engine with o il as instructed in the separate engine manual packed with your unit.
10 • When breaking up sod and for shallow cultivation, use the setting which gives 1" of tilling depth (second ho le from the top). Place the side sh ields in their lowest position. For further depth, raise the depth stake and side shields and make on e or two more passes over the area.
11 SECTION 7: SERVICING YOUR TILLER Transmission— The tr ansmission is pre-lubricated and sealed at the factory. It requires no ch ecking unless the transmission is disassembled . To fill with grease, lay the right half of the transmission on its side.
